Keenan Allen

Postby dresden » Sun Sep 29, 2013 3:37 pm

Is anyone watching this game? All I can see is Allen's 5/80/0 stat line. Is he playing well, or is the Cowboys defense focusing on other players?

No, he looked very good. He made two great catches. It was nice to see him get in on the action.

Do you think he'll see increased snaps? Or was he just playing because Malcom Floyd was not?

He is already playing 94% of the snaps now as Malcom Floyd is out. As you said, the real question is if he can maintain snaps when Malcolm comes back. Probably pretty iffy right now but if he strings a few solid games together it might be hard to take him off the field.

Allen looked good yesterday. Showed great ball skills on a couple back shoulder type throws. I was impressed.

Absolutely. Rivers is back an we know he likes those big targets. Allen isn't flashy but he can fill that DX-type role if you're in a pinch.

Allen is listed as SD's WR#2.

Allen continues to produce and put up solid numbers. Surprised there hasn't been more talk about him. With the Chargers WR's banged up Allen is now the clear #2 wideout in San Diego and is improving with each passing game.

Very glad I've held onto him to see where this goes. My concern is he'll lose his starting spot next season when they are a bit healthier. Does he look like a legit WR2?

Personally, I think Keenan will be a legit #2 next year with the real possibility to take over the #1 roll in San Diego. Floyd will be 33 next year when the season starts and is coming off a pretty significant injury. DX is always injured and can't really be trusted and Royal is the perfect slot receiver but nothing more. So it will be Vincent and Keenan as the top two receivers.
12 team-PPR-49 man roster IDP 1QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex(rb/wr/te), K, 1 DT, 1 DE, 2 LB, 1 DB, 1 Flex (DL,LB,DB)
QB - Ryan, Winston, McCarron
RB - Hunt, Hyde, CJ Anderson, Dixon, Stewart
WR - Julio Jones, Hopkins, Allen, Jeffrey, Cobb, Moncrief, Floyd, Nelson, Rogers, Godwin
TE - Olsen, Ertz, Doyle, Cook
K - Lutz
DT - McCoy, Linval Joseph
DE - Mario Edwards, Avril, Graham
LB - Kirksey, Alexander, Timmons, Trevathan, McKinney, Minter
DB - Jenkins, Byron Jones

I agree with most of this. Keenan was nearly universally considered a 1st round talent going into his junior season. But, as with many WR's, a down year with poor QB play and an injury ruined his stock. Keenan Allen has legitimate ability to be a #1 WR for the Chargers. They need to bring in more players around him, particularly someone that can stretch the field and stay healthy. Something Floyd & DX can't seem to do. I am not convinced Vincent Brown is that guy. I used to really like Brown, but that was when he was a sleeper. He has attained a very high value around this site. Imo, Brown is no better than a guy like Chris Givens/Jeremy Kerley, but he gets a lot of hype.
