Josh Gordon/Vernon Davis?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Josh Gordon/Vernon Davis?

Postby tyson » Thu Jul 11, 2013 2:59 am

A guy in my league is interested in trading for the 1.07 or 1.08 pick (we haven't drafted yet). It's my first rookie draft since I took over in about week 4 this last year so I have a hard time evaluating picks/players etc. He said Josh Gordon and Vernon Davis are available. Immediately like Davis but Gordon has huge upside, and much younger as well. Also relevant, team was in shambles when I took over, semi-rebuilding. I own the 1.02, 1.07, 1.08, 3.02 and so on. Team is in sig, any advice? Should I just keep the picks? Thanks!

I would see if pick 1.08 could land Josh Gordon , he is worth a 1.01-1.03 if he can stay out of trouble.I am not a Vernon Davis fan not sure on his pick value........

Both Vernon and Gordon are worth significantly more then the 1.8. If you can get either for that, it's a steal. Hell, I'd offer him the 1.7 and 1.8 for Davis and Gordon, see what happens

Definitely give up 1.7 or 1.8 for Gordon. If it weren't for this recent suspension, I probably would have given up any pick except 1.1 (Austin) for Gordon.

Okay so next question, say I pry both from him for the 1.07 and 1.08. Do I still draft Austin at 1.02? I know the RBs in this draft aren't necessarily superstars but my situation is looking rough as you can see

Just go BPA. If you can come out of the rookie draft with Gordon, Davis, and Austin, that's damn good

Yes - take Austin. Your RB's suck, but your WR's - even with Gordon - aren't that great yet.

I think Austin will be a stud, and I can't say the same about any of these RB's.

I'd trade 1.08 (or 1.07) for Gordon, but unless you think you can flip Vernon, I wouldn't bother trading for him. He's 29. By the time you're team will contend, he won't be of use. Vernon is definitely worth more than 1.07, but that doesn't matter if you can't get that value from Vernon.

The value is insane. With how shallow TE is at the top end, Davis will carry great value for a contending team. Just wait until he has one big week and then flip him

Okay he didn't agree to 1.07 and 1.08 for both, which makes sense. But he counter offered:
Davis, Gordon, 2014 1st, 2014 1st, 2014 2nd, 2014 2nd
For:
1.02, 1.07, 1.08

I'm almost positive I can get Austin or Gio at 1.02, but that value seems awfully tempting. Thoughts?

Do you have any estimate on where the 2014 picks will be (high or low in each given round)? In other words, is your trading partner expected to make the fantasy playoffs this year?

Next year is a much better draft class, plus you're getting two good pieces in Davis and Gordon. So you basically trading 1.02 for 2 X 2014 1st, and 2 x 2014 2nd, and then 1.07 & 1.08 for Davis and Gordon. Take this deal now before he revokes it.
