I have a new 12 team startup dynasty league that will be drafting soon, partial ppr league (.5 per reception) We will have the following starting positions:
OF - utility (superflex)
QB
RB
WR
WR
TE
FLEX (RB, WR, TE)
FLEX (RB, WR, TE)
I have the 7th pick. With the superflex posision - this is essentially a hybrid two quarterback league (qb's still at a premium, but you can survive without two stud qb's). What does everyone feel about taking one of the following quarterbacks 7th overall in this format - Rogers will be gone- (Brees, Brady, Stafford, Cam Newton)? Although I would likely take green or jones here in a one QB league, Im thinking about snagging a QB. I'm in another 2 QB league, and starting quarterbacks in a league like that are almost impossible to find or trade for if you didn't draft them in the first, startup draft. I feel as though I can build my rb's and wr's through subsequent years drafts, but will have a really hard time finding a QB after this year. For the reason, Im leaning towards Stafford or Cam for longevity reasons. What's everyone's thoughts? Is taking Cam or Stafford a reach here?

I see no harm, and actually a lot of good reasons to do so, in drafting Cam or Stafford. Cam might be more valuable if you get less than six points for a passing TD, but if you can get either in that spot I think it's a great move for your team.

Nope, not a reach at all...I'm with you on your thinking and it's spot on. In a league like this, QB's are such a premium that you almost have to draft a QB in the first and/or 2nd.

I would take Stafford there. You are likely setting your team up for a 1RB approach by doing so, but as long as you are aware of that you can work with it. Probably look to grab a RB or QB in round 2 and then the other in round 3. Then it's 4 straight WR/TEs for you because the top end talent will be gone, but the depth there is good.

I was in a superflex league once and you are right, QB's are hard to come by. I would have no problem taking an elite QB @1.07.
