Undecided on Last Keeper #6

Postby Swids19 » Sat Jun 23, 2012 5:32 pm

Hey guys, I got to keep 6 players. I'm keeping QB: M. Stafford, RB's: D. McFadden & I. Redman, WR's: Calvin Johnson & L. Fitzgerald.

I need to decide on keeper #6 between WR's: Torry Smith (BAL) & T. Young (DET) or Pittsburgh's or San Francisco's Defenses. I pick 8th in every round of the 11 Rd draft, except in Rd #3 where I pick #3 and in Rd #2 where I have no pick (given to get Stafford in a trade).

At 1.8, I am leaning towards the best available RB unless a WR like M. Wallace or J. Nelson is there to take instead. In Rd 3,I'm thinking about a RB or WR that I did not get in Rd #1 or maybe a TE. I'm not sure. A lot depends on my 6th keeper. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time & advice.

I go Torrey, easily. You can use your 1 and 3 to load up on RB (depending on what is available) considering your strength is WR.

I would also pick Smith.

Any way to trade for a better RB2? Redman should be a value but not necessarily. A good keeper. Does that make sense?

Do you have other RBs that may be better prospects long term?

No I do not have better propects at RB than Redman that I got in my Stafford trade. Now, I've been given the opportunity to pick up RB: James Starks (G.B.) at the cost of moving down 4 draft places from 1.8 to 1.12. Starks would be my 6th keeper & 3rd RB.

My problem with Starks is this, he's the main RB in Green bay with little to no competition for RB1 status. Yet all draft sheets have Starks listed at best RB24 on the board or lower. Why is that for a #1 RB in Green bay? I don't get it. Is Starks worth moving down four spots? What am I not understnading or missing with Starks? I then could draft a WR at 1.12 no worst than T. Smith (BAL). Your thoughts?

There is no reason whatsoever you should be considering Redman as a keeper.

Keep Torry AND Titus and trade one of them after the draft for a RB2.

Oh, and the fact that you even mentioned a D in this thread almost made me not reply at all. Keeping a D is just terrible.

I would keep Torrey Smith - think he offers you the most this year and beyond. Like you said, then would definitely just draft the best RB available in Round 1.
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon

I would keep Torrey. I wouldn't trade for Starks.

Thanks for all the input. I decided to cut Smith and trade for Kenny Britt, this was done on (6/30) before his latest arrest. I felt Britt (when 100% healthy) which hasn't been often, could produce Top 5 WR stats. Now he's likely going to get suspended for a couple of games. My move might have backfired on me. Oh well, if I can draft well, then I'll have a decent chance at starting off good within the first 5 weeks of the season.
