R. Hillman vs. L. Miller

Postby Crazylegs » Thu May 17, 2012 4:08 pm

Which of these rooks do you like better in a PPR for 2012 and long term, and why? Because of his landing spot I would have to say Hillman, as well as Millers drop in the draft, and the clogged backfield in Miami. What do you think?

I'm still a fan of Miller but I have to go Hillman on this one. There's been a lot of talk of Miller's landing in Miami as a bad thing but I can easily see him as the starter next year. I believe Bush will be a free agent after this season and Daniel Thomas is a big whiff. That said, Hillman has to compete against Moreno and McGahee for the starting role. Hillman will be getting carries immediately and his share is only going to increase.

Depends on your level of need and patience. Hillman should have the more immediate impact. Provided he gets his pass blocking up to par he should be on the field quite a bit, and reports are he's already passed everyone but McGahee on the depth chart. After Peyton is done in 2-3 years a lot of his value will depend on how Osweiler, or whoever takes over at QB, pans out.
Miller will not do much this year, unless Bush and Thomas both have injury issues. Once Bush is gone after this season is when he's going to shine. His style is perfect for the one cut zone blocking scheme Miami is implementing. I think he has more natural talent than Thomas, and his pure speed can have a huge impact if he's used correctly. A big part of why he dropped was his chalkboard sessions/issues with his football IQ. Keep in mind he was a 20 year old redshirt sophomore. Give him some time to adjust to an NFL offense and mture and he should be a very good back. I don't see Hillman as a true 3 down back, but Miller definitely can be.

Agree with BigB. If you are looking for 2012 production it has to be Hillman. For the long term, I would rather have Miller. Miller might even be productive in 2012 if Bush gets hurt but I would see that as gravy to his long term potential.

Can't wait to see how this plays out. I prefer Hillman over Miller.

Props to Hillman for even staying in the league this long! I guess it worked out ok for Miller.
