Trying to decide Marshawn Lynch's value

Postby jd5016 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 3:40 pm

Most of the "experts" are really poo-pooing on Marshawn, even after the season he just had.
Is Lynch going to bomb out this season and return to being "one of the worst RBs in the game"?
I kinda think the contract-year-talk is a bit inflated. I know contract year performances are a real phenomenon but I feel like it is really being harped on with Lynch.
The guy was very good last season, and I understand that his TD totals are likely to drop. But he did more than score TDs; he had 6 100+ yard games and 3 more of at least 85 yards. Also, his team could add offensive weapons and I think this would only help Marshawn.

What do you guys think about Marshawn this coming season and going forward beyond that?

The Seahawks line was bad last year, and Lynch still had a career year. If the Hawks can pick up some OL help, he may have an even better year in 2012. However, there is some question at this time regarding Carpenter's status for this season.

I've always been a fan of Lycnhs game. I think he'll be a top 10 back this year with a chance to post close to top 5 numbers if they somehow manage to get a starting caliber QB. Considering all the RBBC in the league, he's pretty close to a workhorse back which is becoming very rare to find.

His value varies because he's burned so many owners, but if you stayed patient with him he's paying off. If you bought low then well done. Unfortunately I dealt him 1 year too soon. Most will probably need to see him produce good/great numbers again to believe, but I think he'll do it.

I inquired about him and his owner wants the 1.3 and 1.4 so I lost interest.

Myself, I'm steering clear of Lynch. I don't buy it... If I owned him, i'd be selling as high as possible.

He was in a contract year... There was no RB to put out on the field behind him.

I think he's capable of 1300 yards and 10 TDs. What we saw in 2011 is his ceiling in my opinion.

I'm a Lynch owner. Would Maclin/1.09 or Cruz be enough in return for him?

2015? That is far off. A little too far off for me I think. Does your league require paying league dues in advance if you trade more than a year out? I would be concerned that an owner might sell the farm in terms of the future and then bail after he/she has won a couple championships. I like hearing Lynch is worth a couple 1st's though.
