Brian Thomas Jr Official Thread

Postby Shcritters » Thu May 02, 2024 5:33 pm

BTJr… drafted as the 4th WR, but going later than that in rookie drafts. Probably one of the more polarizing players in the draft given his career YPRR is so low and how much of his production came on 9 routes… but the athletic measurable jump off the page.

Will he boom or bust? Plant your flag!

Definite boom. Steve Smith Sr likes him and so do I. Guy doesn't just end up with 17 TDs last year with LSU in the SEC by pulling an oopsies.

If I'm wrong, so be it. I'll die on this hill.

QB: Jordan Love/Dak Prescott/Aidan O'Connell

RB: Jonathan Taylor/Isaih Pacheco/Zamir White/Jonathan Brooks/Kendre Miller/Tyrone Tracy/Bucky Irving/Pierre Strong/Dylan Laube

TE: Trey McBride/Cole Kmet/Hunter Henry/Michael Mayer/Jelani Woods/Erick All

I really want him to be good because I have a lot of TLaw shares.

Hes my WR4 right now. Every WR in his tier is polarizing because they all have question to answer.

I have the tier currently ranked as:
BTJ - Production profile is interesting but limited. Tied to a good young QB and he was a TD machine.

Worthy - Great breakout age but his sophomore and junior seasons weren't as great as his freshman. Has some questionable drops.

McConkey- Love the player but he was oddly used with Georgia. Scheme fit with Roman has me skeptical. Dominated the senior bowl.

Pearsall - Man is he a technician and I love his game. But he's older (last year of the extra year of covid eligibility players). Hard to take him over the other three with his path for targets blocked currently.
Ainslie-Rachlin Law, "Our decisions... are guided by the perceived values at the moment of the decision - not by the potential final value."

Foodie. Mild sauce goes in the trash. Well done steak goes with it.

Habaneros make the best hot sauce. Throwing a bunch of random stuff on top of fries doesn't mean you call it "poutine".

Agreed! Of course doesn’t hurt he’s from LSU too. Geaux Tigers.

He’s slipped in rankings due to landing spot but to me that’s a mistake because he’s more talented than the next group of guys.

Hes going to be a steal in drafts as you don’t go from the consensus #4 WR pre draft to about #7 just because of landing spot. That’s silly

It's sort of similar to JJM - BTJ was good (great?) at what he was asked to do, but he was asked to do a limited set of things. The question which can only be answered on the field is can he expand his route tree. The scouting community was fairly united in saying yes. Unlike the top three, you're betting on potential here. I think he's a good pick in the 1.09-1.12 range in SF.

He was limited to the most TDs in all D-1 last year. I like that limitation. 😝😝. However now that they ALL are on the big boy stage, they all start to make their own story. Cliche but this is what separates the Men from the Boys.

Has been my WR4 for basically the whole draft process. There was a time I may have put AD Mitchell up with him, but BTJ is in his own tier after the 1st 3 for me. Ladd, Pearsall, Coleman and Worthy are after that.

Thomas is probably the WR1 in last years draft

Or you grab three first round picks (non superflex) and draft Thomas at 1.4, Ladd at 1.9, and Brooks at 1.11... Ladd balances out Thomas, safe option in Ladd, boom/bust option in Thomas that could be a massive boom

Sure. In non-SF. My comment was specific to SF.

Agree 100% with all this. Had Brian Thomas four the whole time and as Mitchell 5. I bumped him down a little now…
