Happy draft season! My league's draft is coming soon, so I'm planning ahead. Curious to see what the community would do from here. This question specifically pertains to QBs and WRs.
I hold the 1.02, 2.01, and 2.07 this year. We start QB, superflex, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE and 2 flex. My strategy has been to mainly punt on RBs and stack up on WRs, since I can start as many as 5 (or even 6 if I include the SF spot) WRs and spot-start 2 RBs. My QBs aren't great, but my WRs are accordingly very deep. To that end, the top choices on my roster look like this:
QB:
Hurts, Fields, Darnold
WR:
Garrett Wilson, DJM, Devonta Smith, Higgins, Rashee Rice, Shaheed, Hollywood, Jeudy
The team picking 1.01 basically needs everything, so if they use their pick I assume it will be Caleb, leaving me with the QB2 or the WR1. Or I could try to trade it - guys like Herbert, Love, Burrow are all ranked roughly equal to the 1.02 on KTC, though there's no guarantee I can get any of them obviously.
In my very early estimation I'm probably a solid playoff team, but would need some not-impossible-but-still-lucky breaks to be a real contender.
Where to move from 1.02?

I’d stay at the 1.2 but try to move the 2.1 and 2.7 for the 1.8 to get into the top tier of players in SF format.

Re: Where to move from 1.02?
That's a good idea, who would you target at the back end of that tier? Both the 1.07 and 1.08 are held by teams that seem like good trade targets.SoftwoodGrampian wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 4:23 pm I’d stay at the 1.2 but try to move the 2.1 and 2.7 for the 1.8 to get into the top tier of players in SF format.

QB at 1.02. I like the idea of packaging the 2nds to move up to wherever you can and getting a decent player

Re: Where to move from 1.02?
That’s probably helpful that the guy owns 1.7 and 1.8 but I would target the 1.8 and not the 1.7. There are a hardened eight for me and it’s the following order without any question.jeffster wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 8:00 amThat's a good idea, who would you target at the back end of that tier? Re: Where to move from 1.02?
This, with the caveat that I'd move Maye above Nabers in deeper leagues (14+) and if I was set at QB could see taking Odunze over JJM.SoftwoodGrampian wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 8:15 amThat’s probably helpful that the guy owns 1.7 and 1.8 but I would target the 1.8 and not the 1.7. Re: Where to move from 1.02?
I think Id try to trade back to 3 or 5,6,7 and get some extra on top. My reasoning is you need a second QB badly. MHJ is a hard player to pass on but as you know landing a QB is a pain in the bleep and the cheapest they'll ever be is in these rookie drafts.
You could land Daniels at 3 plus get another pick thrown on top or move back to 5,6 or 7 and land Maye or JJ and get more back on top. Id do everything I could to land a QB in this draft. Maybe throw your 25 1st and those seconds in to get back into the top 6.

Re: Where to move from 1.02?
Thanks for everyone's help, it was good to get some outside perspective. Just an update: I got lucky and the 1.01 took MHJ. Which I guess isn't completely outlandish, since he had two serviceable QBs and basically no WRs, but still. Ended up with:
1.02 Caleb
2.01 Worthy
2.04 Penix (traded up from 2.07 by swapping my 3.08 for his 4.10)
Worthy wasn't my plan at 2.01, but when he fell that far I had to take him. I still have my 3.05 coming up, but we're slow-drafting as we speak. Happy with how this went. Good luck to you guys!

Re: Where to move from 1.02?
This is great. Love that you got Caleb, Worthy should do well in KC, and Penix is a depth QB play that doesn't have to perform for a few years. Always nice to stash in SF. My SF went like this—jeffster wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 12:21 pm Thanks for everyone's help, it was good to get some outside perspective. Just an update: I got lucky and the 1.01 took MHJ.
