2024 Team Rebuild

Postby Gronkasaurus » Tue Apr 09, 2024 7:13 am

During the season I traded my more valuable pieces in order to make a oush to aggressively rebuild in the draft this year. I was hoping to get the first three picks in the draft to address two positions of need, but that didn’t happen. Now I have an issue and would like to get advice on.

Which scenario would be the best course to take for the first two picks? I know the owner picking at three is going to take bowers, unless another receiver falls into the perfect landing spot.

1.01 Harrison
1.02 Nabers
Or
1.01 Nabers/Harrison (depending on better landing spot)
1.02 Bowers

For the other picks in remaining in the first round I am looking to get Odunze, Thomas, Brooks, Mitchell, McConkey/Worthy/Williams/Daniels.
10 Team 23 man roster w/3 practice squad. PPR with tight ends getting .15/reception.
QB: DeShaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, Geno Smith
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Travis Etienne, Jk Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Kareem Hunt, Dalvin Cook
WR: Garrett Wilson, James Toney, Michael Thomas, Dj Chark, Michael Gallup, John Metchie
TE: Pat Freiermuth, Darren Waller, Hunter Henry, Noah Fant
K: Justin Tucker, Cameron Dicker
D/St: Bills, Texans
2024 picks: 1.01, 1.02, 1.04, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, 1.10, 2.01, and 2.02
2025 picks: rounds 1-5

If it's me, I'd go MHJ and Nabers. Very bullish on both and I think they have their own tier. If you miss on Bowers, so be it. Pick up Sanders, Sinnott or Stover later. Bowers could be great but we've seen guys like OJ Howard never live up to the hype and even Pitts not yet living up to his high fantasy draft capital. I love Bowers but I never trust TE usage as it can be very scheme/coach/QB dependent. My guess is that Odunze would then go #3 and you'd get Bowers at 4.

If you don't have a preference between Odunze and Nabers and you really want Bowers, then you go MHJ and Bowers first. Not what I would do but your draft picks allow you to control a lot of things here.

By the way, GREAT JOB here. I love the build and your team will be really good immediately.

Don’t over think this. Take the two WRs. Now what I would do, it draft Nabers 1.01 then pause to see if other owners will jump at the chance of taking MHj 1.02. You could get some crazy offers. If not then just take MHj next.

Take the two pretty sure fire stud WR's or take the one you like best and put the other pick on the block. Don't even consider anybody else if you are keeping the picks though.

Barring a massive overpay I'm walking out of the top 2 with MHJ & Nabers and feeling good about it. Beyond that I'm moving a couple of those mid or late 1sts for multiple future 1sts and stocking up picks in future drafts as well.

Thanks for the advice. I do like Bowers, and the only reason I would take him at two is due to position of need and the boost he would get being a tight end (.15/receiving yard instead of .10/receiving yard).

Thanks and that is a reasonable plan. Just wondering if there is more value in taking the known vs taking a risk on the unknown.

Even with a need at the TE position you would still take the WRs. What type of offer, in your opinion, would convince you to move off of number to (if I am reading a pick, I am picking the player I want most).

Bowers will not be there at four and will be off the board at three. Owners in this league value TEs kind of highly, and the guy picking at three expressed interest in taking him, or trading up for Harrison or Nabers, but isn’t willing to pay to trade up.

The TE premium isn't enough to impact my draft strategy. Trade a late 1st or early 2nd for a TE. Smash MHJr, Nabers at 1.01 and 1.02 and run the the podium if Odunze falls to your next pick!

Obviously two weeks before the draft, but is there a pivot instead of Odinze. I am not sure I am completely sold on him.

Which side? There's a zero % chance I'd move off 1.01 for that return... but add in another pick downgrade and give up a descent TE in a TE premium league? Firm pass.
