Still haven't seen a credible source for this.

He has even less leverage than Tee Higgins for a win-now team that just lost the Superbowl in OT.

Unless the acquiring partner is coming with a 1st, I don't see it. (And why would you do that in an incredibly strong WR class)

Yeah I feel like it has to be a 1st. I'm not cap expert but..
The 49ers WR room currently costs 50.8M - 2nd most in the NFL

If the 49ers extend Brandon Aiyuk (assuming roughly 24M AAV) their WR room would cost roughly 60.7M which would be the MOST expensive WR room in the NFL by OVER 9M.

The 49ers WR & TE room could cost 76M which would be over 13M more than any other team in NFL.

The #49ers could afford this due to Brock Purdy only making around 1M BUT after his extension at the end of the 2024 season, the 49ers will need to cut costs.

Does this line of reasoning also dictate a downgrading of Herbert? His offseason was arguably (definitely?) worse than TLaw's offseason. If TLaw has less value because the Jags lost Ridley, how many steps down the ladder should we move Herbert after losing Keenan, Ekeler and Mike?
Also lost Everett. Not a world beater by any means, but he did turn into a bit of a safety blanket for Herbert last season at times.
Long term I think herbs will be fine, but probably have a down year and create a buy opportunity imo

Again, feel free to post the source that the Niners are listening to Aiyuk offers.

Because I don't think it exists.

It's just people looking at the cap and wondering how it'll work in 2025 and beyond.

To which the "all in" Niners (sorry Jerry) would simply say "we'll figure that out when we come to it"

idk, does this count https://www.si.com/nfl/steelers/news/re ... iyuk-trade
The Pittsburgh Steelers have "looked into" San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk regarding a possible sign and trade, according to 93.7 The Fan's Andrew Filliponi.

The Jaguars were reportedly working on a deal for Aiyuk, but the asking price was a first-round pick and wide receiver Zay Jones. Jacksonville decided the move would cost too much, so it backed out and left the door open for the next candidate.
Sounds like 49ers want a 1st plus a player they can put into the lineup.

I too would be willing to move my elite top 10 WR for the sun the moon and the stars.

It's a whole lot of nothing. Teams aren't going to pay a 1st+ for the privilege of giving Aiyuk a max extension - not when there's as many CHEAP stud WR's as there are in this rookie class.

I wonder if this will still be true looking back a year from now…

Cheap stud prospects* if you want to be more accurate.

I'm sure they could all bust, sure. (But with a class featuring Marv Jr, Nabors, and others... it's not a greaaaaaat bet)

Won't change the fact that this is one of the most athletic WR classes we've ever seen, with some awesome production profiles to boot.

Agreed.

Ask the Titans how they feel about having listened to offers for AJB.

Agreed. But the teams looking at trading for Aiyuk aren’t in the range to have a shot to draft Marvin, Nabers, or Odunze.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the news this morning.
That and "Why are they acting like they think they can actually contend in 2024?"
But it's cool to see a team sincerely try like this.

Exactly. I think there was an unwritten assumption that the Titans would rollover. But they aren't. They're acting more like the Yankees than the Pirates.
