Nakobe Dean going forward

Currently have Nakobe Dean on my IR and have to decide if I keep him over my other LBs by the Super Bowl (odd rule but roster cut down day before start of next season for the league). Really like his potential and probably the starting MLB on the Eagles Defense but can't stay healthy.

Currently have four other LBs on my squad and that is the max I can hold for the position:
Greenlaw, Dre SFO
Jones, Ernest LAR
Okereke, Bobby NYG
Wagner, Bobby SEA

Most are top tier and young except Wagner but he was solid again this year.

Does Dean hold more value on this squad going forward or cut bait and see what happens next season?

Thanks in advance

Can't cut any of those guys to keep him. If you can drop a CB or S, I'd try to hold for one more season. If it has to be one of those LBs or Dean, he's gone.

Too bad you won't know Wagner's fate for a while. He may not be re-signed by the new regime - he is a UFA. Do they want to pay a 34 year old linebacker? If he goes elsewhere, it might be a one year deal or he could just retire, right?

Dang you have some really good linebackers. Dean has upside, even though he got off to a slow start this year before the injury. Wagner is going to be 34 years old. I'm thinking that you have enough that you could afford to let Wagner go and keep Dean. I don't think Seattle resigns Wagner, but I also don't see him getting anything more than one year deals.

I get that Wagner is 34, but he's also a top 5 LB and has a sterling, borderline elite 82.4 PFF ranking from this season. No signs of decline. Don't care where he starts, or how long his deal is for, I'd want him in my starting line-up for 2024 and likely 2025. That's essentially the best you can hope for with IDPs.

It looks like you only start 2 lbs in a ten team league. I'm curious about Dean's future as well, but it's probably safe to release him to the free agent pool since demand for him won't be too high. However, keep him on your watch list.

That said, I'm always for moving on from someone like Wagner to hang onto the youngster with high potential, as long as I still have solid starters.

Good luck!

^^^^THIS!!
No way I cut any of those LB's for Dean, and I am an Eagles fan.
Dean has upside, but through 2 seasons, we still don't know how much.
His injury, a Lisfranc break, concerns me as well, because they are common for re-occurrence.

Just look at Hollywood Brown, broke his Lisfranc prior to his rookie season, and dealt with a re-break in 2022.

I might cut a DB for Dean, but not a LB.
