Superflex dream QB room

Postby Anteaters » Tue Jan 16, 2024 3:49 am

Here's the scenario. It's a startup draft and you've traded your way into the first three picks. Which three QBs would you take?
With all the QB dynasty wars going on in the forum, I'm trying to get a feel for who the consensus three best are.
(for the sake of this discussion, no need to say "I'd take two QBs and Jefferson".)
TEAM 1:
12 Team ppr w/20 keepers - start 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1FLX 6IDP 1DEF
QB: Tua, Lamar, Levis
RB: Etienne, Pacheco, JavonteWms, JFord, CEH
WR: Lamb, JChase, Waddle, Pickens, MWilliams, Q Johnston
TE: Goedert, Friermuth
DEF: Cowboys, Ravens
IDP:(LB) Bolton, Greenlaw; (DE/DL) ZCollins, BJHill; (S/CB) Pitre, Bates, Witherspoon
2023 & 2022 Champion: 2020 third place: 2019 Champion

TEAM 2:
14 Team 30roster SF/ppr/TEP - QB/RB/WR/TE/5FLX/SF
QB: Tua, CJStroud, Carr, AOC, MWhite, Lock
RB: Etienne, Stevenson, GusE, AJD, Singletary, CEH, Spiller
WR: Amon-Ra, Kirk, Dell, Thielen, Gallup, Ch Jones
TE: Andrews, Waller, Taysom, Smythe, WMallory, JOliver
2023 semifinals loser

This seems like the safest bet overall. I could see Burrow in there but Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson have all been more healthy. Mahomes dipped this year, but he is still a top end option. Again, safest play here.

Hurts and Stroud also have their place, but I am not sure they are in this group. Stroud maybe due to age but fair or not, it's only been one year.

Yeah, I figured Mahomes/Allen were locks. And I thought Jackson would be the best infusion of game-breaking upside (which you're already getting with Allen...and Mahomes prior to this year). If I were going for safety/floor/longevity, I might sub Stroud/Richardson in place of Lamar, but Lamar has a superpower and has demonstrated league winning ability @ 28ppg. I'm not sure anyone else has that level of production in the bag (maybe not even himself considering he's now 27...but he still looks the part)

Now 27? lol. Wow we all look at age nowadays. Can’t fault anyone for this. I struggled between Lamar and Stroud on the 3rd. Age did play a factor for me in this one. Having two horses and then a young buck in the stable. Can’t go wrong

Sounds like Hurts is taking a massive fall from grace after only finishing top 3 this season...

lol I mean I'm not saying I consider him old. He's been consistently excellent, but we haven't seen his absurd peak since age 23. Relative to his play style, I think it's fair to wonder if he still has that in the bag. If so much of his production didn't come from his legs, I wouldn't be mentioning age 27

The stink of the Eagles' downfall this year might make him more attainable, but I'd say the top guys are all pretty fluid right now in terms of ranking/value. I think Jalen's gotta get healthy too. He didn't look as mobile down the stretch

But yeah I'd have Jackson/Hurts/Burrow/Stroud all neck and neck for that 3-spot

Mahomes easily.
Tentative on Allen because I'm always waiting for the turnovers to catch up to him, but take him in a coin toss over Lamar.
Should go Lamar or Hurts #3, but hey, I'm a cheesehead! Plus, Love is the hottest young commodity out there lately (well, maybe Stroud has something to say about that).

Mahomes is the easiest for me, then Allen. The #3 for me is the only question mark. I still lean non running QB in dynasty because I see the elite window longer for the pocket guys. I knock down Lamar due to injury history and Hurts because I think the tush push goes away and that lifted him significantly. I think I'd go Stroud, but Love is knocking on that door.
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

I voted Mahomes, Stroud, and Herbert. Just to be different, I guess.

Before the season, I traded Irv Smith Jr and a 2025 3rd for Love. It’s a 1 QB league but I’m liking it more and more.

it says a lot that through 16 voters, Mahomes is the only QB mentioned on every single ballot. Kind of indicates to me there is a big gap between Mahomes and everyone else.
Also interesting this has become a 4-man race with Stroud+Jackson in third and fourth place.
A Rich finally got a vote.

I would guess, according to these results, the supposed buy-low window on Mahomes has been slammed shut. :?:
Is there an argument to be made we should all be buying high on Stroud? Is there any argument against grabbing him wherever we can whatever the price?
