If I was the NFL though, I wouldn’t advertise this as “super” wildcard weekend. More like the prelims
"This is the round where we get rid of the bumbling teams that were never good enough to be in the playoffs anyway."

That doesn't seem like it would attract many viewers.

This is how I see it too. Although the games were mostly bad, I don't think the format of the playoffs was to blame. (Although it has been I the past).

I also think it's pretty funny that we are lamenting having too much football on a site where all we do is talk about football. Y'all would cut your left arm off for a football game in May so enjoy all you can get right now!!

I agree with this, but I've never been on board with expanding the NFL playoffs to seven teams per conference. We already had teams with .500 or worse records making the playoffs because of a trash division. The new format allows another average team in. Not a fan.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Entirely agree. Some will complain about whatever they can possibly find to complain about. Just look at college - even when you hand pick only the top four teams, there are blowouts more often than not. Option 2 is we send the Packers home and give Dallas a free pass to the Divisional round where we can then complain about how bad Division round football is.

GB isn't average and they definitely deserve to be in. Most of the time though, the 7 seeds are bad.

Not to mention that losing teams don't make the wild card, it's usually a trash division that let's a trash team in

I'm not a Steelers fan, but I really do like Tomlin and think he's a darn good coach. I'd be thrilled if he were running the show in Seattle.

I feel bad for him though. Imagine a world in which your team makes the playoffs, and you believe your best option to compete at QB is Mason Rudolph?! And you're likely correct in that belief...

I think Pickett was a swing-and-a-miss.

The way the NFL is going just go ahead and make it a 32 team tourney since its no longer means anything to win a division. Why stop at 14 teams include them all and lets see what happens might as well its where we are headed. The new WWF place your bets. The NFL is a becoming or much closer have become a joke of what it once was. Like when the Circus came to town hop on and enjoy the clown show.

You know an offensive lineman is truly special when we're lamenting his retirement. That just doesn't happen too often. Lots of players don't, but I'd have liked to see him get a ring.

His exit makes sense though watching him on the sideline last night. It looked like a little more than just being down about exiting the playoffs in the opening round. Has to be tough walking away from a game you love like that. But Father Time...
