Re: Not at all early 2025 Draft thread
I was looking to trade for an early 2025 first... and I'm struggling with this class. It looks very poor.
Looking back through drafts the past few years every year had a couple players we were all looking forward to for at least a couple years.
2021 had Lawrence, Chase, Pitts
2022 had Hall, London, Wilson
2023 had Bijan, JSN, Gibbs
2024 has Caleb, MHJr, Nabers, Bowers (embarrassment of riches)
2025 has....?
Maybe we've been spoiled, but I don't see 2025 early 1sts having the same value difference to mid-1sts as previous years.
I would love to be wrong... convince me I am!

So another 2022 class again? Where no one is truly happy, but we'll get some great players with low expectations. Give it time.

I do agree that 2025 may not have an all-time great prospect, but all of the players you named above are not all-time great prospects either.Shcritters wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:04 am I was looking to trade for an early 2025 first... and I'm struggling with this class. It looks very poor.

I don't think it's a poor class at all. The depth is very encouraging right now. I think the big flaws with it right now is that there isn't a Caleb Williams type of talent at QB. There also isn't a Drake Maye, C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young level either. I think that there are a few who are clawing to get there though.
As far as RB, WR and TE, it's very similar to 2023. It's deep at RB and TE, and WR is solid, but lacks the depth of 2024. There are big talents at RB (Ollie Gordon, Quinshon Judkins, Nic Singleton), WR (Luther Burden, Tet McMillan, Travis Hunter) and TE (Colston Loveland, Luke Lachey, Tyler Warren).
We'll see how it fleshes out, but so far I think the biggest question mark with this class is QB. There's a lot of names there, but there needs to be some breakout seasons with them.
Re: Not at all early 2025 Draft thread
I'll add that we didn't have Jayden Daniels really at this time last year. Nor did we have AR two years ago. There's a decent chance a QB could emerge. It's not the Kenny Pickett/Malik Willis repeat yet. Although it could be.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:49 amI do agree that 2025 may not have an all-time great prospect, but all of the players you named above are not all-time great prospects either.Shcritters wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:04 am I was looking to trade for an early 2025 first... and I'm struggling with this class. Also unlike '24, we have a good shot at getting an elite RB - several folks could rise (Singleton, Gordon, etc.). Much better than 12 months ago.
IMO - worrying about the 2025 class relative to acquiring picks is probably overthinking it. A future pick will always climb in value. They are the safest assets in dynasty. I guess if one is thinking about picking in round one of this year vs. trading for a '25 some consideration of the class might matter. But for the most part I'm banking future 1st w/o much concern for the class.

Re: Not at all early 2025 Draft thread
I think the 25 QB class will be weaker than the 24 QB class.
I feel the WR class won't have the top end of the 24 WR class, no MHJ or Nabers, but I think that it will be a solid WR class with players like Luther Burden, Tet McMillan, and Evan Stewart being as good as the normal years top WR's (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, etc.).
I think the RB class in 2025 will be it's strength, not necessarily top end like 23 with Bijan/Gibbs, but much better than 2024 RB class in quality and depth.
Can't forget about the players who chose to go back to school too, like Emeka Egbuka and Treveyon Henderson.

My bet is Burden ends up being viewed as a better prospect than the '23 class (JSN, Addison, Flowers). Debating what lengths to go to in order to land him in my devy league.
And I'm with you on Egbuka. I'm curious to see if he's making the right bet - I suspect he would have been a 2nd rounder in this draft. But if last year was mostly injury and QB related, he could see his stock rise back to where it was preseason last year. He was projected as a top-15 pick by many. I have him on that devy team and I'm sort of indifferent that he went back.

I think the 2025 class in general will be solid, but without the ultra high end RB and WR prospects we had in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
Good depth though.
QB's could be a little weak, though I don't see the class being 2022 QB class bad.
I don't think I ever saw Egbuka being mocked in top 15 in 2024.
I saw him mostly listed as a late 1st, but possible 2nd round pick in 2024.

Huge expectations on this RB class . It’s a good one .
And another reason I’m not reaching on any of the mediocre 2024 RB’s

Could be another over-rated OSU product like JSN was.
They should save it for when real studs like Jeremiah Smith come out.
Can't just cry stud every time a OSU WR joins a draft class. Just my $0.02
I feel like from what I saw, later than July, around Dec/Jan 2023/2024, Egbuka was slotted into mostly late 1st round pick.
Granted, he did not have a strong 2023 season, maybe why he went back to school
