2023 week 17 - Championship week

3 and 0 this week. 2 Championships and 1 3rd place out of my 4 money leagues.
The 2 championships (sig not 100% accurate):
Had Reed in Team 1 (opponent had AJones) and we were almost tied going in...won by 4.
My opponent had Reed (Team 2), won that by 10 points.

Somehow won both of my leagues again this year, a repeat and a threepeat, many thanks to all here for the great advice and content, happy new year all!

It was a strange week… my opponent in the championship had all of his players going in the early matchup (have never had had happen before). His team didn’t perform… but mine ended up scoring the most points of all teams this week.

After being carried by Hill and AJB all year my RBs (Hall, Conner, Pacheco) surprisingly came up big and dropped 27, 28, and 32 points. Sometimes timing is everything… and this led to back-to-back ships!

Hope others had success also!

Also forgot to mention… traded my 1st/2nd (turned into 1.12/2.12) next year in a package that netted me the 1.02/2.02. Almost traded those two picks+ for Lamb prior to the playoffs… certainly could have used him, but got by without him.

Just enough to win… but also keeping the future going.

Yep. Got beat by Reed in a 'ship. It could be Reed/Wicks and not Watson/Doubs.

I got lucky in my office league. Went to bed down by a ton as my pollard/laporta duo was outscored by my opponent’s lamb/Goff combo.

I woke up (Japan time) and saw that his other players popped the bed and I was down by 10 points with a hall/Jefferson stack left to play for me. I ended up winning by 3 points late into the 4th quarter of the Vikings game. Starting hall over tua and Howell almost bit me in the bleep. Glad they benched hall, at least Mullens could pass to JJ

Made the playoffs in 5 of 6 leagues, where the one that missed was an orphan I picked up this past offseason.

Made it to the semi-finals in all 5 (2 had byes).

3 are through to the championship game, though the 2 I care about most are the ones that lost this past week. For one of the teams that’s vying for a title, I’ve picked wrong between Goff and Love at QB every week; hopefully I’ve got it right this time (leaning Love at the moment)! Another is back after losing the championship game last year. I’ll be up against the same opponent, but relying on Tua at QB against Baltimore has me nervous.

Ended up going 2-1 in the championship games. Made the wrong decision again on Goff vs Love (put Goff in last second based on the higher over/under for the game) but managed to eke out a win anyway.

Two leagues, both teams that had CeeDee going eventually lost. Just goes to show that even an early “knockout blow” type of performance, isn’t a 100% guarantee.

2-5 in Championship games. Just brutal. Needed a LB to outscore a CB by 2pts, nope. Needed Ty Chandler and Kraft to outscore a CB, again nope. Several tough losses... alas let's do it all again next year.

0 for 3 this year in championship week. I figured I’d go 2-1 but it wasn’t my week.

Team 2 and Team 4 each put up their lowest point totals of the year, and by quite a bit. Got sunk by Mahomes and Kelce in each of them.

Team 2 lost to a team starting Easton stick, jakobi Myers and Thielen.

The last team lost by the difference of me starting mixon over najee in a coin flip.

Onto 2024, I suppose

All three teams I was the 1 seed with week 15 bye, and rolled through week 16, ran into a buzz-saw in all 3 championships.
None of the games were even close.

I was 3-0 against my finals managers during our regular season match-ups.

For Team 1 in my sig:
Before week 17 games, I picked up CEH and inserted him in my starting lineup over Jerome Ford. Pacheco was still predicted to miss week 17, so he was on my bench as well. I flip flop between Tua or Lamar all week, before setting on Lamar on Thursday.

Thursday night, Ford plays like an all-star. I'm pulling out my hair. By Saturday morning, Pacheco is looking like he'll play and CEH has turned up lame. Fantasy analysts are all over the map. Some predicting a 70-30 split in favor of Pacheco, some predicting a 60-40 split in favor of CEH. I'm still pulling out my hair.

Saturday, Lamb proves the top tier of dynasty WRs is 3WR and not just JJ+Chase.
Sunday in Baltimore, I'm sitting in M&T Bank Stadium watching Lamar put up 49pts for my fantasy team. Even though the Ravens crushed my Dolphins, I can't help but marvel at seeing the excellence of Lamar in person. Oh, and the Baltimore fans are A++++.
Sunday Night: After big games by Pacheco+ETN+Pickett I go into the Sunday night game up 40, hoping Jefferson doesn't do Jefferson things and choke my dreams. Minnesota's backup backup backup QB isn't good enough to let JJ do it, and I win.

Moral of the story: Never bench Jerome Ford.
