Last Minute WW Grabs

Postby wickerkat1212 » Wed Dec 13, 2023 9:30 pm

I think we did this last year. Before the WW closes, who are you snatching up—fliers, end of the bench, etc. I think Jerome Ford was that guy last year, right? Who is on your list?

Davis Allen LAR TE is a guy I grabbed in my 2TEP league.
Tanner Hudson is another TE I picked up.
Grabbed Xavier Gipson WR in one league.
Are you stashing any of these crazy QBs?
Bears DEF anyone? LOL
I think Parker Washington got snagged in all of my leagues last week.

Thoughts?

Every guy you mention is owned in both my leagues.

And no, I'm not stashing any of the crazy QBs. Even Zappe feels like a wasted roster spot. But he might be valuable to the manager of whoever NEP takes early in the draft - so holding in an effort to get a little something.

By RB you mean QB since all of them get hurt, right?

I like the Nichols idea. Someone recently picked up McBride on Dec 12 in my league.

I'm stashing all the Xaviers I can find. For now I'm also holding Isaiah Hodgins in case he carves out something next year. Holding Sean Clifford as Love insurance for next year.

What's the draw to Davis Allen? I have zero knowledge on this guy other than he just exploded last week.

He's a rookie so we don't know his upside yet. Worth a stash over some of the journeyman TEs that we have seen with limited usage IMO.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

His athleticism is poor so he probably won’t be much of anything, but there’s several JAGs at TE that end up having decent seasons. Schultz, Ferguson, etc.

Right. For some TE's it is more about situation and usage than it is about athleticism. Schultz/Ferguson aren't anything special athletically... but they are top 12 TE's due to situation. The LAR TE situation is a decent one - so if he can take charge of that role then there's value to be had. My guess is LAR is about to clean house on a lot of contracts, so you never know if he ends up being the starter there sooner rather than later.

This thread made me want to revisit my draft notes on him. Speaking of "JAGs", I wrote in my Excel sheet in August...

"#4 TE? But JAGS in front of him"

Lol. I must've seen some depth chart where he was listed as #4 at the time. FWIW I assigned him a (admittedly arbitrary) grade in the 4th round. I agree with the above ^ though, I can see him carving out a bigger role next year because it doesn't feel like the players in front of him are that special.

He's probably already owned due to the Schultz injury, but Brevin Jordan is a guy with a chance.

Schultz only signed a one year deal. No guarantee he comes back to the Stroud offense.

As far as RB's, look for any guys with good size/speed that are currently buried, and who are absolutely coming back next year to their current situation with a chance to catch more work.

The Ford call was easy last year (in terms of him moving up the depth chart) because it was a perfect storm of CLE being capped out from Watson + down on draft capital + having D'ernest and Hunt both as probable departures. At first blush there's nothing that concrete this year on a largely unowned guy (as most teams don't cap themselves out as hard as CLE did if they can help it)

Guys I'm stashing personally or would want to stash as super long shots: Zamir White, Israel Abanikanda, Jaleel McLaughlin, Zach Evans... maybe Deneric Prince, maybe Sean Tucker...?
