Hey all, sorry for the short notice here, but we will be bringing down the DLF Forum for maintenance today at 5PM EST / 2PM PST. The forum will likely be unavailable for 1-2 hours. We will get it back up and running as quickly as possible. I normally prefer to do these things overnight to minimize impact, but this situation requires a daytime maintenance.

This may be more info than you care to know, but for those interested, here you go.

So the forum is now live on a new server. The server is a significant step up from the previous hardware in terms of processors, memory and storage. Also as part of this move, several code updates were performed.

We upgraded the forum software to the latest version.
We've upgraded the underlying code version (php) to the latest version.
We've cleaned up some old directories that were no longer needed.

This is all really good stuff and was way overdue. But along with these benefits there are a few wrinkles.

The way this forum "looks" is driven by a theme for phpbb. It's the code that dictates how all of the elements ought to be displayed. This theme we have been using for years is, uhm, getting a little old. And it doesn't seem to appear to support some of the newer code elements in the latest version of phpbb. This leads to some mildly weird stuff, like the breadcrumbs not displaying correctly near the top of the page, or some elements kind of bouncing around, etc. Nothing terribly critical (that I have seen so far) but certainly some annoyances.

So I'm either going to code around these issues in the theme files myself (god help us all) or just go find another theme to use which is compatible with the current version of phpbb. This means the 'look and feel' of the DLF Forum might possibly change in the coming weeks or months. Or not. We'll see.

Another issue I am working on has to do with 'extensions'. These are like plugins that add functionality or capability to the forum. Some time ago we used to have the Tapatalk extension that allowed for better display of the forum on mobile devices. I know some of you were big fans. But due to an update a number of years ago that went sadly awry, the admin panel that is used to manage these plugins stopped working, as did the plugins. I tried to fix it but without any luck. Other priorities quickly took over, life moved on and, well, it just never got fixed.

But I am finally circling back to that issue. You can find me on the phpbb support forum yakking it up with folks much smarter than me about this software, trying find a fix. I hope to find a solution soon, and when I do, one of the first things I'll be restoring is Tapatalk.

Finally, it's hard to believe this forum - this community - is almost 18 years old. It's been an amazing resource for so many dynasty fantasy football fans, and it's crazy to think about how many lasting friendships have been born from discussions started this space. When we first created DLF way back in 2006, the very first piece of DLF wasn't the website. It was this forum. Because the whole idea of DLF really started with community. That's truly what we wanted to build. And this forum was the foundation of that community.

While other resources for dynasty fantasy football community are out there, including our own DLF Discord server, we are so grateful for everyone here choosing to call this place home for quality dynasty discourse. Whether you have been here for 18 years or 18 minutes, you are what makes this community special. Not the software, not the server specs, not the theme, not the php version. You. So thank you. All of you.

wow thanks for the update. Quick question, I'm currently getting a "Your connection is not private" warning message when I access the forums, regardless of browser (edge and chrome tried), browser mode (Incognito vs normal), or device (computer or phone). Is this something that needs to be fixed/adjusted on your end or on mine?

Yep that's on our side and that issue should be fixed now. Just had to update the SSL cert to match the domain name. Let me know if you run into any further issues. Thanks!

There is no longer an option to jump back to the sub-forum you are currently in replying to posts now, just to jump all the way back to "board index" instead of "lineup advice " for example. Why is that?

That's one of the unfortunate side effects I mentioned in my long post. The Breadcrumbs, those links to the folders at the top of the page that you are referring to, those are a consequence of the theme for this forum not working 100% on the latest version of php. I'll be addressing that in the next few days. Hang in there.

Hmm... I've remained logged into the forum for since it's been restarted yesterday. No login issues.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Try clearing your browser cache and logging in again and let me know if that helps.
