Where are we ranking stroud now?

Postby imi814 » Mon Nov 06, 2023 8:07 am

Stroud has obviously been really good so far and yesterday’s game was amazing. How high are we ranking him now?
He is not in top 5 yet but after mahomes Allen hurts burrow and Herbert I’m not sure I would trade him straight up for anyone else in the next tier of lamar Lawrence a rich and Tua. How do you all ranked him?

I think he's firmly in that 7-10 range, where it's all about preference. I still think the 5 you listed (Pat, Hurts, Allen, Burrow, Herbert) and solidified and i also would rank Lamar as 6th, but after that? Hard to put anyone else ahead of him as they all have question marks:

- Trevor has flashed but has been unable to do it consistently
- Anthony Richardson looked great in 3 games but ultimately couldn't stay on the field and has a playing style that worries you long-term
- Tua - Miami still hasn't signed him, unlikely he's the guy moving forward but is benefiting from a good system under McDaniels
- Fields - yikes...not trending in the right direction
- Watson/Murray/Dak/Young - easily take Stroud over any of these guys

Last week for team 1 which is 2 qb a guy offered me Tua for stroud, Bryce, and 2 early ones. I politely declined as it wasn’t close to anything I would do. But after this week not sure I would trade stroud straight up for Tua.

I've had Stroud over Tua for a few weeks now

What? Tua unlikely the guy? That's crazy. He's absolutely the guy moving forward, barring another serious injury (which is his true question mark). He's 25. He's on pace for almost 5k yards and 36TDs and currently leads the league in both categories, on top of leading the league for two straight years in passer rating.

I do agree that CJS should be in the 6-10 range, and probably towards the front rather than the back of that tier.

If I was choosing player in a 2QB dynasty start-up, the only two QBs I'd consider taking over CJS are Mahomes and Hurts.

If I "ranking" them for fantasy production in the short term (1-2 years) I'd probably put Josh Allen above CJS as well.

Other than that, I'm taking CJS over every other QB. His age and his ability+skill+game intelligence make him my favorite over everyone else.

This looks really close to me. I’d drop Fileds completely and move Kyler up to 11. I’m willing to take several guys over Fields at this point.

I honestly don’t see a long future for Allen either. I’d drop him below Stroud for dynasty as crazy as that sounds.

For me it comes down to the Lamar dividing line. If you're rebuilding/youth movement focussed, I can see how you can justify CJ Stroud over him if those extra 4 years of youth are worth it to you.

He's only had one QB1 finish (this week) - more commonly, he's finishing as a QB10-QB13... a back-end QB1.

I think that's what he is, in real life - a back-of-the Top 10 QB talent.

In order to get him as high as our resident reactionary Anteaters (QB3!) you have to truly believe that once he gets an elite WR or TE weapon, this thing will boom even further.

(Personally, I think the idea of putting him over Hurts and Burrow - when both of them are already linked to the best WR's in football for the immediate 3+ years future - plus Hurts with his insane GL rushing ability - well... that's pretty dumb lol)

I'd take him over T-Law though. Talk about overrated...

I think you should have Stroud wherever you have Herbert. I have a tough time differentiating between the two.

He enters the conversation at QB5 for me.

Haven't you already declared Stroud > Herbert?
