Really disappointing that his season ends with a broken fibula. That will also limit his offseason and our a damper on him.

I have no shares… but if you think he’s going to come back the same next year then now may be your best ‘buy’ window that may ever happen.

Sucks for a great season to end this way on a fluky play like that where he's run blocking.

This injury, really hurts his value. He's 25 next year. Hope he can come back, but Nico, man. He's a baller. I can't see how he's not extended, given his connection with Stroud, being on a cheap QB contract. Nico is going to get PAID. So he should, too.'

Dell, sadly, will play on a rookie deal, and regardless of how well he plays over the next 4 years, won't get a great 2nd contract, due to his age/size/injury concerns.

Definitely premature to come to that conclusion.

He's not a RB and teams are always thirsty for talented WRs

I don't think it is. He won't get the same type of 2nd contract as a guy who's 24/25, when he's 28. That's pretty obvious. My point is, his 2nd contract is capped. It just is. He won't get 3-4 years guaranteed, at that point, it's a long shot at best.

Rather than wringing our hands over a theoretical contract that's still 3 years away, how about this:

Tank Dell is under contract for his entire athletic prime (ages 24-28) with a Top 8 QB in the NFL (Top 5???) - possibly one of the most accurate pure passers we've seen play the modern game.

Nobody holding Dell stock is giving 2 shizz about his 2nd contract at this point. Imagine him with a 2nd year Stroud... an offseason together... good gracious. If you play Dynasty in 3 year windows (a common strategy) then this guy is as hard of a 3 year lock as you could hope for.

Are we still on this? The injury today had nothing to do with his size.

Dell looked like a flat out stud this season and Stroud was feeding him nonstop. Collins looks good too, but we've already seen that both can coexist. It's not an either/or.

Fun fact…the 3 current highest WR contracts by average value per year were all signed by WRs who were 28 or older at the time.

IF Dell is good enough, it won’t matter. Time will tell whether he is good enough or not.

It will. He will never get the same type of deal he would, if he were 21 or 22 right now. It's the truth. I'm not going to argue about it any more though, it's how I see it, and that won't change. You'll always get a better deal if you're mid 20's, vs late, in an alternate reality. That's my point.

Even at RB, I tried to tell Cazzie, Jacobs vs Najee age matters. Jacobs will get a better contract vs Najee, on their 2nd deal, due to age, even if they were equal talents coming into their 2nd contracts. Yes, different positions, but the point is, IF Dell were 22, he'd get a better deal after 4 years, than he will being a 24 year old rookie right now. I'm out, moving on, hope he gets well soon, he's a fun player.

Terry McLaurin was a very similar age when he entered the NFL as Tank Dell (tank Dell is 44 days older when he entered the NFL). After McLaurin's 3rd year, he signed an extension for 23.3 million per year in new money and 53.15 million guaranteed. Tank Dell career earnings will be less of a younger players with a longer career, but if Tank Dell is playing well, he will get paid. No doubt.

True. Good point. I hope he does, Terry also asserted himself as the true number 1 on his team, and Dell has Nico to contend with, so maybe someone else gives him a deal elsewhere, but he'd have to assert himself as the Texans number 1 over the course of his rookie deal to be comparable, I think.

Is he though? I’d have to go back and check, so I could be wrong, but Dell was putting up better numbers for a decent amount of weeks and CJ loves him

Update: post bye:
Week 8: Dell 6.1, Nico 7
Week 9: Dell 29.6, Nico 14.4 (don’t remember if he got hurt this week or week 10)
Week 10: Dell 18.9, Nico hurt
Week 11: Dell 28.9, Nico 13.5
Week 12: Dell 17.2, Nico 23.4
Week 13: Dell dead, Nico not dead

This looks like a 1a/1b situation to me, which can be an extremely successful recipe for all involved.
