Wasn't this the play where there was more stuff after the whistle blew? I feel like there was more to this play and it cuts out right before.

Maybe I'm thinking of a different play, but looked a lot like that one.
nevermind, must have been thinking about some other play. He was fined for leading with the crown of his helmet. You can clearly see him lower his helmet, and drive it into the helmet of the defender as the initial point of contact. Its good that they are getting this crap out of the NFL. They should learn how to block properly and tackle properly

Okay what was up with the slide tackle on Kincaid? And why the hell wasn't that flagged for tripping?

They don't need to learn to tackle properly, they still get flagged for it if they do. Case and point, that roughing the passer tonight. They will be removing more ways to tackle next year, too. The game will eventually be some form of flag. In a generation or two. Not joking. Tackle football is slowly being phased out, the younger generation all play flag, tons of kids do, and they won't have the same ties to tackle football. Physical costs will eventually outweigh the need for tackle, at some point. Just a prediction, not sure how long it will take, but I don't doubt the game will evolve beyond tackle, at a high level, at some point.

I mean WTH is going on with ATL? They need to clean house. I drafted Pitts in a few leagues, but was so tired of him that I traded all of my shares away. So far those trades have looked good. I think Bijan survives this, and I know it's his rookie year, but you do not draft a guy like Bijan so early and then bleep it up. WTH.

One rushing TD this year. Here we were, thinking Gibbs would be a problem. I mean, with Monty back, he'll cede touches, and will never be a GL type guy, but nobody thought Bijan would be subbed out at the GL all the time, or ceding touches to a 5th rounder, to this level.

As it should be. More and more scientific data points to concussions having devastating long term effects in developing brains. It's also why head balls in soccer should not be taught until older. Most likely highschool and college should be the starting points for contact football.

There is a significant difference between an on field call and a fine. It should be noted that Ricard was not fined for his helmet shot, most likely because the refs didn't see it. Just like in real time they may flag something that shouldn't be

Yep. Yet no full time officials. Just raking in the money. They don't care, as long as people still watch.

Never been a big Josh Dobbs guy. Didn’t love him. Didn’t hate him. But it’s hard not to respect him after what he pulled off today, especially under the unique circumstances.

I’ve been thinking for a while that football could take a page from the NHL and try to institute some form of “no leaving the feet” tackling. Like launching headfirst at the ball carrier, parallel to the ground, high probability of injury to the defender and/or offensive player. Would we lose a bit of defensive excitement? Maybe. But the NFL would gain more offensive fireworks and star power staying on the field. And that gains more casual eyeballs and new fans for the product.

I put it in the Addison thread - but legitimately, what Dobbs did today is freakin' insane.

He was literally out there playing "see-it-and-throw-it" Madden with his mate on the couch (O'Connell) yelling at him to "THROW IT TO X!!!"

He literally didn't even know the plays he was calling.
Incredible stories from the Vikings' locker room today. Josh Dobbs didn't take a single rep with the offense in practice. No snaps from Garrett Bradbury. Had never thrown passes to anyone, and didn't know most of their full names. "That's for next week," he said.

When it was time for Josh Dobbs to come into the game, the Vikings' offense huddled on the sideline and went through the team's 5 primary cadences, said RT Brian O'Neill. That was the first time he had gone through it with the rest of the offense.

Unbelievable. Josh Dobbs said that Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell was essentially translating calls and mapping out plays mid-huddle, as the play clock was ticking down. KOC called Dobbs’ ability to handle it all one of the most impressive things he’d seen in his career.
https://twitter.com/alec_lewis/status/1 ... 9181622490
https://twitter.com/SeifertESPN/status/ ... 9074000098

The degree of difficulty to do this is legitimately insane.

My hat is off to our alopecian king.
