Raiders: McDaniels and Ziegler FIRED

Postby FantasyFreak » Tue Oct 31, 2023 10:14 pm

Great news. Sucks that Adams and Jacobs now can't have trade value etc.

This has a lot of affect on the future of these players, moving forward though.

Jacobs won't be tagged again, IMO. Adams gone next year, total tear down, I'd hope. Jimmy G gone. He's a backup at best, likely retiring soon due to injuries. I'd honestly like to see Maxx moved, for multiple firsts, for him, and the team. He deserves so much better. He's the best player on that team by a country mile, and it's not close. He never takes a play off, never takes a me first attitude. The guy is the sole reason I have respect for this team, at times, and he deserves to win.

It would be tough, after Mack, who I also loved, but this team is a ways away, and they'd be best off moving him to a team that might be able to win.

When a team holds a players only meeting on how to fix the offense it's time to fire the coach. NFL owners need to learn the lesson that the Patriot's coaching tree bears only rotten fruit.

Some guys are just Assistants.

Congrats FF - I know this has been a tough show to watch the last few years.

Hoping you guys get a good one this time. Best of luck on the teardown / rebuild.

Definitely hoping for a better GM and Coach.

That should do it for any other team giving McDaniels a chance to be a HC again. Incorrect decisions and simply not a leader of men. The bold step to let go of both mid-season reveals just how bad things were. Whoever is head of football operations might also need to be reassigned to another position with Mark Davis Enterprises, because the Raiders fans shouldn't have to suffer though another totally mismanaged hiring decision like that one.

Some funny/gallows humour McDaniels content so long as we're all here:

via Warren Sharp
imagine getting a shot at being 1 of 32 NFL head coaches...

and you voluntarily handcuff your career to Tim Tebow

of course you get fired

you then wait OVER A DECADE to finally convince another owner to hire you

and you voluntarily handcuff your career to Jimmy G

wild
the Josh McDaniels Head Coaching experience:

It's funny because it's true.

Choosing Tebow as Your Guy was enough to convince me McD stood for McDummy. I bet he is a terrible fantasy football manager because he can't spot talent.

I don't really hate the Jimmy G choice as much because Jimmy can actually be an NFL QB ... if he was healthy. What I hate about the Raiders QB decision was antagonizing Carr to the point where the HC couldn't co-exist with him, dumping him for nothing, not having a plan for a replacement to the degree where you end up hiring a walking injury report, then bringing in an 37(?) year old backup QB who has been putrid everywhere he's been. Hoyer's a "good guy" but a terrible NFL QB.

McDummy doesn't get a pass on this year's QB problem, because he chose this year's QB depth chart. Just as choosing Tebow was a terrible decision, choosing Jimmy+Hoyer to be your top 2 QBs during an offseason when you could have ended up with Baker+Brissett or Minshew shows very poor judgement.

I am so glad the Raiders aren't MY team because this tenure would have been torture for me.

I'm losing count on how many coaches Tom Brady has fooled teams into thinking are actually good

Disappointed that the Raiders broke character and did something smart. Maybe they’ll hire Urban Meyer to replace McDooshbag.

Just a day too late - should have been right after that game so Adams/Crosby could have been moved out at the deadline.

What is the rush or logic in trading them in season by the trade deadline? In season, there will only be a few teams that can and are willing to trade for them. After the season is over, there will be more teams interested. The Raiders goal at this point in trading them is draft pick return, not a salary dump.

I would imagine the same principles apply for NFL GMs as they do in this silly little game we play.

Adams and Crosby are producing right now, which gives the Raiders leverage in a trade, as they may fill a need that can't be met elsewhere for an NFL team that's interested in those players. During the offseason, those same NFL teams might have numerous other options. Not to mention, should Adams suffer an injury (knock on wood), their market and asking price probably shrinks drastically given his age.

Nah the leverage comes from having 31 teams interested in acquiring one of the players. Right now teams are hampered by their rosters, salaries, and a handful of other things. In the off season teams won't be as constrained.

Adams and Crosby are both under contract so there is no need to move them now.

The hire Jim Harbaugh noise will be reaching 180dB by seasons end.

The Raiders have some talent on that roster and will most likely have a lock top 3-7 pick by years end to draft a QB.
