What to do with Quentin johnston

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What to do with Quentin johnston

Postby jponte3 » Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:54 am

Just wanted to get an idea of how panicked everyone is on qj at this point. I have him on a pure rebuilding roster and am debating if I wanna get out or hold. If you are giving up and selling, what would you realistically be willing to sell for at this point?
Thanks for any feedback

I disliked him during the draft process and continue to dislike him. In SF I'd take an early 2nd w/o hesitation.

He was a major gamble coming in and needed time to translate, so this year is no surprise at all. If you want to move on, you need to get the same range of pick as where you took him or hold and give it time.

I’d take any 2nd for him. Never cared for the prospect much, but ended up with a share because he fell to the late 1st, and back in May I decided to take a shot on the upside since he had a good situation and a little hype. Plus no one was left that I had much conviction for. Regret that now, so I’d accept a small loss to downgrade to a 2nd.

Have him and regret drafting him in the backend of the 1st. If you can get a real early 2nd for him I would probably take it, but I think he holds 2nd round value into next season at the very least. If you're not competing and can afford to hold him through this year, that's probably your best bet.

Most people won’t pay anything for him right now, but if you hold to next offseason, he should get a value boost. Fantasy analysts will start talking him up. Probably best shot to recoup best possible value

At this point is Johnston a buy low and hold?

I’ve seen owners trying to sell for a 3rd round rookie pick.

Are we buying, holding or selling QJ?

For a 3rd I'd buy. As an owner, I doubt you get anyone willing to pay anything that would make it attractive to sell, (Mid-early 2nd) so he's a hold.

This.

Maybe the Burks manager would do a one for one trade so both teams can renew their misplaced hopes.

No choice but to hold him if you already have him as his return is likely to be very low. I would be happy to add him for a 3rd or equivalent value if anyone is already bailing at that price point. He was never a good prospect but he has the body if he can improve a bit.

I'd trade him if can get a mid 2nd, but you probably can't. Likely a hold.

I guess you can hype the HC change at LAC for reason to be more optimistic on QJ but until he shows it on the field, he is the poster child of sell low.
