Interesting little bit about the big play at the end of the game. First game with Kyler, so this interaction with his QB is interesting to hear.

Great to see him do it with Kyler, that was a bit of a concern with a potential change in QB.

Not every week will be like this, but I’ve seen enough to label him a top 12 TE.

Frustrating. A guy reaches out, says he really likes Trey McBride and asks what it would take to get him

I tell him a first (his will be mid to late) and a 3rd which I think is a pretty reasonable ask. He goes on a mocking spree that I'm crazy for thinking he's worth that

Like, you asked? He's a 23 year old TE who's made the leap. What more would you want if you took a TE like that with the 1.08 a past year?

Gotta love the trading partner who really wants your guy (but also wants to convince you that your guy actually sucks). No chance I'd move my McBride share for less than a 1st as of today. He's had 2 games without Ertz and at least semi-competetent QB play and he went for 20+ in both (full PPR). I'm sure he won't average that RoS but he absolutely looks the part of a guy who could he elite for a long time.

A 1st still feels overpriced to me. But… it doesn’t matter if it’s overpriced, if I asked you about a player I can’t mock your value for them as clearly I’m interested

I doubt many McBride owners are looking to sell for current "fair" market value. They've seen his upside and aren't going to want to let that go for a 2nd. Selling McBride right now feels like whatever the opposite of catching a falling knife is (letting go of a rising balloon?)

I've had a bit of this happen recently also. No one wants to make a first offer anymore, or if they do, its incredibly light. They're just looking to swipe players for cheap. Might work on some others who haven't been watching, but I wouldn't take less than a 1st for McBride either. He is finally getting his shot (averaging 9 targets the last 4 games) and wins in multiple areas. Why re-roll into the 2024 class? The RB class looks awful and you would be hoping a decent WR prospect even makes it to the 2nd. It's not like he is old lol

Exactly. Like sure his "fair" value is probably like a second, but why wouldn't I want to stay on the rise when everything looks like it's going up? And this isn't some out of nowhere player suddenly with 2 or 3 good games for not reason that could be a flash in the pan you flip for a 2nd.

Nah, a 2nd in 1 QB league isn't even fair. A mid to late first can land you Skyy Moore, etc. It's a coin toss. TE is a waste land. You have one that may be a difference maker vs the field, beyond a handful of guys. TE is a position that can take years, and in his first chance, he's balling. He was super productive in college and had early round 2 draft capital, his prospect profile was rock solid to begin with, and now he's showing out in the big league. Your ask is extremely fair, given the context, IMO.

I've noticed this happening more and more recently too. And I'm curious what the root of it is. Are managers getting more greedy? Is everyone afraid of being dunked on on Twitter? Idk

But yeah, trading McBride for a 2 doesn't make sense at this point

I was going to say KTC too. It can be useful, but is super reactionary. Also, there seems to be more redraft players coming into dynasty and bringing along those short-term mindsets. They like the idea of dynasty (2024 1sts are cool!) while clinging to the sell high, buy low ideology. Most people on this board seem to be seasoned dynasty players and are more in the "long-haul" mindset.

Yeah, I'm sure the real answer is that it's a number of factors combined. Hadn't considered the flock of redraft players entering the space. That's a possibility for sure. Anecdotally, I'd say the majority of my leaguemates are on the more seasoned side. But I could see how that might shift the landscape of dynasty trades over time.

I don't think the reactionary quality of KTC is all bad, I think it's a large-scale reflection of dynasty managers/markets as a whole. I think it does a good job of showing you what might be actionable within your league's market. If you're only in one league and you get laughed at after making an offer that was fair on KTC, you'll think KTC is worthless. If you're in 20 leagues and are able to get that same offer accepted in 3 of them, the perception of the tool likely changes.

As you mention, the "seasoned" dynasty players know to keep that long-haul mindset, but everyone is subject to a little tilt as player values fluctuate, rookies underperform, etc.

*Obligatory mention of Trey McBride*
