Zay Flowers may be missing some time next year.

You understand that there are absolutely no details in that report, right?

I have no dog in the hunt with Flowers, so I really don’t care too much personally what happens other than wanting to see all parties involved protected per the law. But there is almost literally no meat on that bone.

this biggest concern for Flowers is that, as a WR firmly in the midst of the LJax era, we may have already seen him at or near his peak receiving totals

Yep however (and I’m not defending him), OBJ might be gone, Bateman has been a complete disappointment. Can we see that BAL goes to more 2 TE sets to get Likely more touches?

2 TE sets is def a threat to Flowers

This is a ridiculous post.

Nobody should be worried about the on-field prospects of Zay Flowers. Certainly not as it pertains to 2TE sets.

It seems hard to fathom, but it's quite common for Rookie NFL players to become even better in their 2nd year... wild, I know...

Yeah, I don’t see how 2TE sets are a risk to him. He’s the WR1 in BAL (on the field 80-90% of the time), so unless it is a 2TE-3RB set he’s still on the field…

only in that it would take a few targets away from him, and targets for Ravens WRs are a precious commodity, don't pretend like they're not. I'm not saying two TE sets is the cut and dry downfall of Flowers, I was only agreeing with TheTroll that it is one of the factors that COULD BE an issue IF he has big number problems. I'm not knocking the talent in any way. but the numbers is the numbers for WR production in Balti, all I'm saying is it's reasonable to wonder if he'll be just like every other Ravens WR. since 2018, 1 1k Wr season, and other than that, they frankly haven't even been close. not to mention that WRs have only out TD'd TEs twice in that time, 2020 Marquis Brown had 8 and 2018 John Brown had a wopping 5

Valid points.

I’d still bet that Flowers goes >1k yards next year (barring injury). 858 as a rookie is very solid.

Flowers will be fine and I don't anticipate the Ravens majorly changing their deployments in year 2 with Monken. I would lock in a new WR this draft and Flowers and them will be a 1/2 punch with batemen as a field stretcher. Sad to say (as a Ravens fan) that's what he will be for us but it's just the reality. He's not reliable at all.

Except for his output towards the latter parts of the season were higher (including the playoffs) when it mattered most.

Extrapolate the stats for the last 1/3 of the season and the playoffs going forward you have a WR 1. If that's the case sign me up

P.S. : biased because I already signed on for Flowers everywhere I could but the stats are the stats. Clearly he is the #1 option for the Ravens

^ok, but still, this is the Ravens, how can you extrapolate 6 weeks of a season and say that's what the game plans will look like for the Ravens all next year? Mark Andrews is presumably going to be on the field all season, he was not in those last six weeks. Also, they will presumably be utilizaing their RB1/2 from the get go (lol ok, maybe not with the RB injury curse they seem to live under) instead of whatever 3rd string RB is healthiest and has the hot hand. And as Mike11 said above you, he's locking it in that the Ravens take a WR in the draft. There are a lot of very good, prototypical profile WRs coming out this year. it's reasonable to consider he may be challenged as the dominant WR on the team. Even if he has WR1 catch and yardage totals, the TDs are still gonna be very tough to come by

Scored most of his TDs in the late season run (and was a GL fumble away from another) so it became more of a factor inside the red zone as Lamar & the OC dialed up more plays for him. Maybe Andrews takes a few looks away but Flowers got better as the year went along so I wouldn’t set this year’s numbers as his ceiling is all I’m saying.

My biggest fear is the Ravens dominate their opponents and don’t have to throw the ball in 2nd halves. That’s when the run game hurts Flowers & Lamar’s numbers as they run clock.

It’s a new metric I’m working on … CLOCK BLOCKING … passing stats for when teams that are in the lead quit passing.
