Goedert is very talented but it's not going to happen in PHI.

AJB and Devonta are going to take the lion's share of looks and while Hurts has proven to be a good QB he's not prolific enough for a 3rd receiver to be a reliable fantasy asset.

He’s a very good real life player. Occasionally he’ll have very good fantasy weeks.

But his blow up weeks will come less often than Kittle and won’t be as blow-upy
Very fair and accurate assessment here I believe.

I’m not sure people remember how good Goedert was last year because of how his season has started this year.

He averaged 11.9ppg in ppr. He had 5 (out of 11) games single digit points. 3 of those 5 he had 9 points, so barely missed.

For reference looking at non Kelce TEs:
Hock - 13.3ppg. 7 out of 16 single digit.
Kittle - 13.0ppg. 7 out of 14 single digit.
Andrews - 12.7ppg. 7 out of 15 single digit. 1 game barely missed with 9.

The above 3 TEs listed were propped up by multiple 20 point games (or 30 point in Hock’s case), bringing their average up. This isn’t a knock on them, that’s what we want in fantasy, they have a higher ceiling.

Goedert had 1 20 point game and still ended just below them on average. I’d argue he was more consistent last year than any of them. Just didn’t have the ceiling.

Whether he can get back to last year remains to be seen.

It isn’t his talent most people doubt. It’s whether the eagles will use him like that. A lot of people doubt Hurts will put up as many passing yards now that the running game is just plain clicking.
He could…and if he does then Goedert will turn this around. Regardless I think his average game this season will be higher than what he’s provided thus far.

May not always be consistent with all their weapons, but still has more upside than most TEs as evidenced today.

Like I said earlier in this thread, if I had Goedert, I'd have no desire to upgrade my TE situation. He's not elite, but he's stable, and will probably be a TE5-8 on the year. You can win a championship with that in any format. Every weapon in the Eagles offense will have some stinkers purely based on variance.

DeVonta Smith with 6 yards in this game while AJB and Goedert went off.

Kelce (if his foot is OK), LaPorta, Andrews, and... I don't know there's many TE's I feel good about starting each week. Really does feel like a crap-shoot, and that's a shame.

Because to your point Sriracha, Goedert is just as likely to go back to a 3/42/0 line next weekend as he is to build on his Week 5 success.

As good as I feel about starting any TE not named LaPorta.

Pretty good, he's going against the Jets who give up the most points to tight ends.

Nope. Because his name isn’t Kelce.

But just like I said with Kittle, Goedert is immensely talented so his spike weeks are huge and they will come multiple times a year.

It's the state of the position. If you own Goedert, you're probably starting him. Just kind of is what it is. Other than Kelce, I'm not excited to start any TE.

I'd be excited to start Sam Laporta right now.

They are making a clear effort to scheme him high-value touches. It's a high-powered, rush-first offense. He fits that as a TE that doesn't have to come off the field, and is a natural target of these Play Action run fake shot plays.

That's as much as you can hope for at the TE position.

Great to see Goedert get loose today. A shame it came at the expense of Devonta... this offense really can't support 3 catchers + all the running TD's.
