I have no knowledge of any of this, but my assumption is he can’t block, so any base package he won’t be in. Or, maybe he’s a dummy and can’t learn the playbook. But yeah, they need to find a way to get him on the field

Or Sean Payton is a hack

Ready to see the washed up Saints like Trequan and Trautman brought in to keep Mims/Dulcich off the field because they have "championship DNA" or whatever those Bellichick tree clowns used to say about bringing in Patriots washouts

FantasyFreak wrote: Sun Oct 01, 2023 10:01 pm I know the drafting Chase vs the OL meme is now legendary to make fun of, but to me, it's still a bit relevant. I'm personally starting to get some Andrew Luck vibes with Burrow. He's been battered since he entered the league, and he's a bit slight in build. All these hits are going to add up. He had the major knee injury, he's got the calf, he's feeling pain in his throwing arm today, etc. They should seriously consider shutting him down for a bit, but due to being 1-3, they likely won't. I worry about his long term health, the way this team wants to throw but has no way of protecting him.
I have no shares of Burrow, and would not draft him in start-ups or want him in a trade. I've gotten the same feeling as you since halfway through his second season. When he's hitting on all cylinders, he's great. But I keep feeling concerned about his long-term health.

I guess there's nothing definitive to point to, but my spidey-sense is screaming he's going to have a body-breakdown of some sort. I'd be more than happy to roster (supposedly) lesser QBs like TLaw, Tua and Stroud, instead of Burrow.
Cincy should be smarter . No need letting him play in a blowout situation & probably should have overridden “his” desire to play at far less than 100% health. Blaming that on the offensive line is a stretch. Burrow’s calf injury was in camp on a non- contact rollout . They signed Orlando to beef up line. Brown is a perennial pro bowl candidate . They moved former 1st rd LT to RT and revamped the interior line the last two seasons with solid starters. QBs that play 20 gms and throw a majority of their plays are going to get hit a bunch of times during extended runs like Cincy has done the past couple of years.

Bengals need to make long term wise decision and let him get completely healthy since they are on the hook for a long time. Maybe Joey feels obligated to be out there after taking the bagful of money 💰 While it’s commendable it’s not smart

Kamara set a record this week with his receptions outburst - 13 catches for 33 yards. The previous low yardage for 13 or more catches was 71 yards. 😳

I'm still pretty keen to see what happens when Arthur Smith gets a real QB.

The scheme suggests he's got good stuff going on - the amount of WIDE OPEN Pitts and Drake overthrows plus the air yards (prayer yards) data and off-target/uncatchable throw rates suggest it's really not a problem of the scheme. It's a QB / accuracy one. I think he's calling these run-heavy game plans because he's playing the cards he's been dealt. That's what good coaches do - they fit the playcalling to the players.

He resurrected Ryan Tannehill when we all thought his career was dust, post-Miami. He can get good play out of middling QB's. He just can't get starter-level play out of non-NFL QB's, which is unfortunately what he has been rolling with for 2 seasons straight now.

All true.

Arthur Smith is a almost a coaching savant. He may not magically turn fantasy darlings into fantasy studs, but his teams win. Once Smith gets a QB, this offense will hum.

Too bad they didn't go get Hobbs for peanuts. Even that would be an upgrade from Ridder. AZ has been a bit of a surprise.

Dobbs is a guy that teams routinely traded for (which is relatively rare for a backup QB) so he was likely looked at as interesting by a lot of teams...

But I doubt anyone could've predicted he'd play this well. The guy is legitimately playing like a starting QB. We'll see if he can keep it up as teams get a better feel for his tendencies.

How do they plan on getting one of these real QBs? I guess next available one (non rookie) would be cousins? Maybe a brissett or minshew?

I'd like to see heinikie honestly, I don't think he can be worse than ridder.
