Why does Brandon Staley still have a job ???

Postby cazzie33 » Mon Sep 25, 2023 8:48 am

His ego should’ve cost the Chargers ANOTHER win by poor coaching decisions. His expertise is supposed to be as a defensive mastermind.(and they have been horrible despite having at least 3 top players in Bosa , Mack & James)

Kellen Moore anyone ?

It's coming. The Vikings had a prime opportunity to get him fired right there, they just bungled it harder. (the Kirk Cousins experience)

Defensive Specialist Brandon Staley's forthcoming exit interview:

I don't think Cousins is to blame. The ball was intercepted on a deflection.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

He gets all the blame, but that was absolutely NOT Cousin’s fault. He threw the ball to the side of the receiver away from the defender… the best you can do. Somehow the ball got popped up and intercepted… not his fault.

Just like the INT that the MN d-back had go right through his hands to a wide-open Palmer. Should have been an INT… instead it’s a TD.

Sure, but it was also a rushed play because he refused to spike it, and had a rolling clock. The defense also 100% knows it's a pass there; it's possible they might have been able to have a less obvious design for the winner than "throw to TJ Hock *again*".

Hockensen converts on the play before with 38 seconds left on the clock - and Cousins huddles, calls the play, and attempts 1st-and-Goal with 12 seconds remaining. That could've been a lot better.

There's enough blame to go around.
