QBs Down! Rank 'em Top 10!

Postby BLH » Mon Nov 21, 2011 11:52 am

So, a ton of injuries and such going on with starting QBs around the league. Some are done for the year, other questionable. So, let's see everyone's Top 10 QBs the rest of the way this year. I will start:

1. Rodgers
2. Brees
3. Newton
4. Brady
5. Roethlisberger
6. Manning
7. Vick
8. Stafford
9. Romo
10. Ryan
Young, Wild, and Brees (12-team PPR; 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX)
QB: Brees, Roethlisberger
RB: McCoy, Anderson, Ellington, Foster, Forsett, Randle, Stewart, Polk, K. Davis,
WR: A.Johnson, Fitzgerald, Hilton, G. Tate, Colston, Wayne
TE: Bennett, Pitta, Gates, Daniels

IF you're purely talking from a fantasy points perspective for THIS year (not value, not future production....), and IF rushing TDs are scored as 6 points vs 4 for passing, I think you've *gulp* got to have Tebow in the top 10 for the rest of the way this year. If you only look at the games he's started this year + the game he played half of (basically just ignoring the couple games he was used for 1 or 2 plays) he's averaged the 6th most points per game, just ahead of Vick and just under Stafford.

I'd personally go:

1. Rodgers
2. Brees
3. Newton
4. Brady
5. Stafford
6. Romo
7. Roethlisberger
8. Vick
9. Tebow
10. Rivers

Haha so much Tebow hate, your all obviously letting your personal feelings blind your reasoning. Tebow should without a doubt be in everyones top 10 for the rest of the season. He puts up fantasy points and I can only imagine if John Fox would let him play tebow ball prior to the final drive of every game..he could win you your league in those circumstances.

I mean honestly though, he scored under 20 points...its not like he scored 40! Sure in a redraft I would plug and play him until he gets yanked, but in a dynasty I wouldnt want him on my roster. Elway and the Broncos GM are scouting the 2 QBs in the Oklahoma v. Baylor game...I would highly doubt that unless Tebow wins the super bowl that he is a starting QB next year.

But that wasn't the question. The question was only: QB production (not value) for the remainder of THIS season.

All I'm saying is that he's outproduced half of the players in your top 10 since he took over and if his name wasn't Tebow he would be in everyones top 10. Personally I don't allow my biased personal opinions of a person to affect my rankings

But I guess you guys are just smarter than all the experts who have him in their top 10 on a weekly basis...Look at the stats..not the name

LOL I like Tebow...Ive been rooting for him...I actually got a little too excited when he scored to see the look on Elways face! BUT...

Since you told me to look at the stats and not the name, I did just that. Tebow (I will call him Player X so I am not looking at the name) was named the starter for the Dolphins game week 7 and has played 5 games, so I compared him in scoring to the 10 guys I have in my list over their last 5 games played. Keep in mind scoring bonuses in my league for 25 completions, 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing.

1. Rodgers -- 156.75
2. Brees -- 138.95
3. Brady -- 123.00
4. Stafford -- 127.65
5. Cam -- 123.85
6. Vick -- 106.3
7. Romo -- 105.7
8. Rivers -- 109.85
9. Eli(te) -- 107.80
10. Big Ben -- 119.35

Player X -- 105.6

So looking at my scoring system (and frankly thats what I care about most) Tebow (can I look at the name now) has not outscored any of these QBs since being named the starter. The closest one is Romo who I would not bench for Tebow. Some of the other names on peoples lists included Matt Ryan and Josh Freeman...both of which have outscored Tebow in their last 5 games played. The other thing about Tebow is the next time they lose because of him that just gives Elway more opportunity to yank him. None of the QBs in my top 10, or the others I have seen on this thread, have any worries of being yanked. You are so pro-Tebow and so anti-us that maybe you should put up your top 10 list to show us the error in our ways. Also, really? You really are bringing "experts" into this conversation. Sorry if I don't listen to Michael Fabiano as if my life depended on it! lol Oh and if you say "well he had 18 points against a tough Jets D"...Brady has averaged about 10 points per game more than that against the Jets in his two starts this year.

I am not sure if you are referring to his personality or his skills as a football player. Tebow's personality doesn't bother me in the least and I expect that I would share many of the same ideals in life. People didn't like Kurt Warner for many of the same reasons, but that didn't prevent them from appreciating his skills as an NFL QB.

I am pretty confident that you have had a bias in favor of Tebow running back to last season. His typical games this season have been in the same production neighborhood of the likes of Sanchez and Flacco. Rankings are a combination of both subjective and objective opinion. Unlike the a Michael Vick or Cam Newton who are strong runners and passers, Tebow can't throw the football. Rather than look at the fantasy points, look at the stats themselves but more importantly watch the game film. He looks like he is throwing a dead fish. Lacking the ability to do both is going to impact his ability to perform consistently. Top 10 would imply starting him confidently each week as a QB1. That's a frightening thought.

As to "experts", just what exactly qualifies someone? Most are merely sports reporters/writers or people in the right place at the right time who have qualified themselves based on being a major part of a fantasy web site. There are some good ones out there. There are also some knuckleheads.

W1, any week, or all year? There's a few ways this works out

1) Tebow is on the Denver roster and starts W1 and remains starter until the team is out of it.

2) Tebow is on the roster, but the team benches him for Quinn or a rookie from day 1 and buries him.

3) Tebow is traded for late round picks (similar to the Quinn/Hillis trade). At worst Tebow is a backup to a shakey starter like Gabbert or Henne, with an outside chance to beat the incumbent at camp.

4) Tebow is cut or hurt during camp and joins Glenn Coffee's ministry.

Option 2 and 4 are the least likely. Option 2 would dominate Denver sports media for the entire year and push the franchise even further back. Option 1 or 3 give Tebow a punchers chance at starting.
