I know, it’s a preposterous idea, but no less preposterous than dismissing Purdy because of the team he’s on.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

Sorry for questioning Purdy's excellence.

And if Tua had the same stats, efficiency, etc
as Purdy he'd be the front runner for MVP.
He does
He actually does not. Purdy has been way more efficient. 6 INTs vs 10. 9.6 YPA vs 8.6. QB6 in fantasy PPG vs QB14.
Their stats are near identical

I'm a big 49ers fan and a Purdy fan, def hoping he holds the MVP and they don't just give it to the winner of cowboys/eagles next week given how we dismantled both teams. If I was to play devils advocate though, the best argument I can think of isn't the weapons or how open the receivers are or how good Shanahan is - those are all little chips but no where near enough to take away the MVP from him given what past QBs have done.

The best argument IMO is the 3 game losing stretch against the PJ Walker browns, the prime time kirk with no JJ vikings, and the blowout against the (albeit healthy) Bengals. During those games he was missing an all pro left tackle and and all pro wr (deebo) but he still had an all pro tight end, a pro bowl wr, an all pro rb, and an absolutely stacked defense. I know the caveats are that the defense severely underperformed (wilks -> sideline!) and he got them in position to win with the kick v the browns. However, his stats during those 3 games were pretty brutal given how much talent he still had around him: 62.5% completion rate (between gardener and tim boyle), 3tds, 5 ints.

Overall Purdy has been so good outside those weeks that if they had just been spread out, no detractor could even talk about those. Its IMO the only knock against his MVP race, but ultimately, if he keeps up what he normally does rest of season it should be his.

It's a little something, but not much.

- Against Cleveland, he put them in position to win, but they missed the field goal
- Minnesota was a one possession loss and they were playing very good football at the time even without Jefferson
- Cincinnati was also surging. They beat Buffalo the week after.

None of these were really bad losses in isolation. It just so happened that they were consecutive weeks.

Let's be real, the MVP hasn't been the MVP, in terms of how they deal with the award, for a long time.

Have to ask Goodell which player they want to market more … then you’ll have your answer

8-) I thought before it was a "no way can he continue an MVP pace" argument. Moving the bar a bit to keep your Purdy stance accurate?

Well I traded for him in one league so now I gotta represent. That’s how this works, right?

Oh for sure. I only know the players I own. The rest of the guys are just numbered jerseys.

I did two SF/TEP startups this year and targeted him in both - getting him in both at 6.10 and 7.07. He's QB13 on KTC right now... and pretty sure that's about 2-4 spots too low. He'd likely be a 2nd round startup pick next year.

Stud player... perfect fit for that offense... as long as he and the skill position players stay healthy he's a top 12 QB for the next 3 years.

Top 12? More like top 1-2.

FWIW, there’s only two years left on the contracts of CMC, Deebo and Kittle (Purdy sits on this timeline as well), and one year remaining for Aiyuk. So no guarantee Purdy continues to have elite weapons for the next three years, unless you’re counting what’s left of 2023 as one of those three years.
