1.02 vs 1.03, 2.04, 2.12

Postby Orenthal Shames » Thu May 04, 2023 7:19 pm

I have 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4

I got this offer today for 1.2. As of now I'd have Gibbs at 2, JSN at 3 but in the same tier. Is this enough to move down a spot? I'm a full rebuild if that moves the needle either way.

Full rebuild and if you need both RB (even after Bijan added) or a WR, then take the deal. The 2nds are somewhat of lottery tickets but they might pay off. However I love the fact of having the first two picks and can take anyone I want. I don’t think you can go wrong either way however.

My only WR of note is Olave. Bijan will be my only RB, so I'm a total rebuild.

Other owner wants Gibbs for sure. He's a RB away from really contending. I'm going to try to pry a bit more out of him if I can. He has 2.3 & 2.4, so I'm going to try to add 2.11 and a 3rd to 1.2 to see if I can swing 1.3/2.3/2.4

I like your thinking! Get a little bit more. If we wants Gibbs then make him think you are going RB RB.

I wouldn't do it. I have Gibbs a good bit above JSN. Plus in a 16-team league those 2nds are crap shoots.

But if you see JSN and Gibbs as close, it may chance the calculus.

If you truly have them same tier, sure. I personally have Gibbs a tier up and would pass.

If you have Gibbs and JSN in the same tier, then definitely do this. And you know, I know, we know -- all things being equal, better to take the WR in a rebuild than the RB. So, yeah, definitely do this. (Of course, if you can get a little more out of it, go for it. Arizona played it beautifully in the draft. But I wouldn't get too hung up on it if this is the final offer: you're getting 2.04 and 2.12 for free.)

While I agree with you that WRs age better in rebuild (if you’re talking vets you definitely want WRs), I don’t necessarily agree with it for rookies in rebuild. Highly drafted Rookie RBs gain/hold value incredibly, passing on RBs because you’re in rebuild I personally think is an industry wide error.
*This assumes the league trades and values players similar to ADP, have to know your league*

RBs are so expensive in a 16 team format. While I think the value is okay here in a full rebuild, it's not great based on the rights you are giving up.

I have JSN and Gibbs in the same tier with Gibbs higher of the two.

I'm thinking Bijan + Gibbs is pretty hard to pass up

Roster would be

Watson
Bijan, Gibbs
Olave, Addison
Chig

Vs

Watson
Bijan
Olave, JSN, Addison
Chig

I have a bunch of 2nds this year + 4 firsts (likely 1.01 and some mids) & 6 seconds in 24. Timeline is to compete in 24 if that helps sway any opinions.

IF you know you can get JSN there, do it. You're taking Bijan. I really like JSN and love the idea of getting the best RB/WR in this class. Maybe pick up Kincaid later and get the best TE too.

Full rebuild and those are some solid picks added. I have Gibbs a tad higher but in a full rebuild this is the play.
