Q. Johnston or Addison

Postby Jcedwards » Mon May 01, 2023 6:18 pm

This will probably be a popular topic, but these are probably the 2 I’m considering at 1.05. Who do you all like best?

Q Johnston- higher risk to bust; has the best potential to be a WR1 for his team at some point though and realistic shot of being a top 12-15 dynasty WR IMO

Addison- safer, and will benefit from JJ being across from him, but will never be a WR1 for his team; but could this be a similar pairing to Devonta smith and AJB?

Johnston based on build and athletic ability should have been dominant against smaller and lesser athletes but was not. I don't think that gets better at the next level. I would take the safer, not exciting Addison who will likely be more reliable on Sundays.

I have the 1.4 in a 1QB and I’m taking Addison easily over QJ. I own Herbert and I wish I liked QJ, but just can’t. I’ll take the WR who can run routes, create separation and catch with his hands. The size is disheartening, but he can put on the weight. Even if he doesn’t, WRs tend to be protected more in todays NFL.

Full disclosure, I'm not expecting WR1 numbers from Jordan, but rather mid-to-low WR2 numbers. I’m expecting Kevin White numbers from QJ with Kalvin Benjamin ceiling. Sometimes a steady WR2 is worth more than WR1 upside.

If you want upside or boom/bust, its QJ

If you want a better shot of hitting on a high floor/low ceiling its Addison.

I will likely be picking a lot of Addison this year if he falls. WR3 for me, QJ a close WR4

Yup. I keep thinking Addison should be my 2 but my gut is telling me Flowers. I think he's got more upside and hoping the landing spot isn't as bad as everyone thinks

I like Q still as the WR2, not an Addison fan and I despise Flowers landing spot. Chargers got Mike Williams right and I think they can sort Q out as well. Q is better than Williams was in college and I think he will be the pro's. Top that with the most stable and best QB/team situation and easy yes.

I think Addison struggles to find a decent target %, so I'm choosing QJ who I think will fall into a very fortunate-for-him injured-teammates situation that results in a lot of targets this year. And the added attention will help him develop faster than other, possibly more-talented WRs who will fall behind (and possibly remain behind) QJ in the long run

Addison for me.
Probably walking into the most direct path for work, taking over Theilen's role as WR2 in Minnesota.
JSN and QJ are walking in as their teams WR3 this season.

I feel like QJ and Anthiny Richardson are the 2 most volatile prospects in this year's draft class.
Both have very high ceilings, and very low floors. Boom/Bust.
Addison feels like a safer play, like Young/Stroud at QB.
I think he is a lot like Jahan Dotson, but with a better QB.

I see this a lot but everyone understands that is like 70 catches for 800yds right? Unless he takes the WR1 targets from Jefferson you are drafting an optimistic WR2 for fantasy. In QJ's case he is behind Keenan Allen at age 31 who is clearly fading and on the tail of his contract. So a clear path to WR1.

I get people like Addison but its not like he is without issues. He gets bullied by large DB's many times and hasn't shown an ability to handle press coverage. 173 at 5'11" this isn't a surprise there is also knocks on a lack of concentration on deep balls letting them get into his body and pads. All scouting strengths and weaknesses but people have been quick to point out Q's so I feel like maybe someone should acknowledge Addisons here as well.

I don’t disagree there aren’t some concerns with Addison also. But to the point on his role, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he will command more targets than a 32 year old. KJ Osborn had the same number of targets as Thielen last year. I could see Addison eating into those a little bit.

I do think QJ has a higher upside as he could become WR1 on his team. Addison won’t unless he or Jefferson moves. I’m just not a QJ believer to think he will ever hit that upside, so I prefer Addison.

I think Addison is a significantly better bet to be a fantasy WR2 than QJ is a WR1. I obviously don’t have a crystal ball, but Addison has a safe WR3 with mid WR2 upside. QJ has slim (imo) WR1 upside with bust floor. I suppose it comes down to risk tolerance, but I don’t find the marginal increase in production worth making the bet on the bottoming on floor.

I agree with most others. Addison has the much safer floor. QJ has boom/bust potential but needs to develop his WR skills (catching, route running, etc) to be able to boom. He's tied to a better QB though and it's likely one or both of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are gone after this season. I would take Addison though.

I'd rather draft a WR2 in a high volume passing offense (Tee Higgins, Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith) than a WR1 in a low volume passing offense (DJ Moore, Zay Flowers, London, Burks).

Vikings defense is garbage, Cousins could throw for over 5,000 yards this year.
