Where do you pull the trigger on Boutte?

Postby wickerkat1212 » Wed Apr 12, 2023 3:54 pm

I'm just curious, where do you guys see the value in Boutte? I'm avoiding him, for the most part, but at what point do you say screw it, I'll take the risk? And say whether it's Superflex or 1 qb.

End of the first round?
Early second round?
Any time in the second round?
Not until the third?
Never?

Just did a quick ADP on him and I'm seeing anywhere between 19 and 40, average ADP of 27. Seems pretty late to me. Another website had him 12 in 1 qb and 17 in Superflex.

I have some late 2nd and early 3rd picks (2.09, 3.01, 3.02, 3.04) but seriously doubt he makes it to those.

Thoughts?

He seems to be failing at every stage of the process and falling further down draft boards.

The nfl draft could change everything but right now I wouldn't take a shot on him until the 3rd and I wouldnt even do that in every league.

When I'm done taking prospects I actually like.

By current ADP, that looks to be sometime in the 4th.

In the Boutte thread, there were comments about him being a late late or even mid first, before his stock took a tumble. Back then, I saw him as a mid 2nd at the earliest, and I think that's the ceiling I have for him now, baring a draft day surprise.

Assuming he gets day 3 draft capital, as expected, I won't even look at him until late 2nd round in SF leagues.
In my main league, I have picks 2.01, 2.05, 3.01, 3.05.
I will not consider Boutte with 2.01 or 2.05, I will consider him in round 3, if he is there.

And I am someone who was considering using 1.10 on him before the combine.

He's owned in my devy league. Only about 15 or so devys are owned, speaks to how high he once was. In a regular draft I'd probably never draft him. But maybe mid to late 3rd feels right.

Have always been intrigued by devy but drafting someone like Boutte and then watching him downward spiral might be too much for me

True. It’s better to wait for them to crash in the nfl.

I wasted a roster spot on Josh Gordon for years, so Boutte would probably fit the bill for me in late rounds

12 months ago JSN and Boutte were considered to be top 5 picks in 2023, along with Bijan, Young and Stroud.

I almost traded away Josh Jacobs early last season for Kayshon Boutte and Sean Tucker.
Fortunately, the other manager declined this trade offer.
