I mean, Lamar is still available. If you're going to pay multiple firsts, and a large cap hit for a QB, why not explore that option? They could put that rumour out there and see what the Packers do, even if they don't intend on signing Lamar.
But that would make too much sense
Honestly, I think they might have had Lamar not been looking for a record breaking deal fully guaranteed, but then if he wasn't, he might already be signed in Baltimore. The Jets could at least fake interest, though, for the purposes of negotiations with the Packers.
If you offered Lamar a 3 year $150M guaranteed (what Rodgers has) he might take it.
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)

RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford

TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

But the Ravens have a week to match, and by then Packers could find another trade partner (although it’s doubtful)

I personally think Jets are better with Lamar over A ROD

Lol, the Ravens have been begging to sign Lamar the past two seasons. Lamar refuses to sign. He wants max money. Anything less than fully guaranteed 5 year deal, Baltimore will happily match, and everyone in the league knows it. It baffles me how people make obvious situations complicated.

And regarding the notion of the Jets faking interest in Lamar just to strengthen their negotiation with GB is terribly awful business. Their is zero chance that thought even enters the Jets thought process at this point.
Now, if the situation lingers, and GB seriously wants big compensation for Rodgers, then I agree, the Jets should talk to Lamar, but with serious thoughts of acquiring him, not to run some farce.

Farce's are fun, though. They make for great off season talk on the talking head shows! I mean, creating even more drama in an Aaron Rodgers story, it would be like a soap opera.

Packers know they will be on the hook for much of Rodgers' cost, so no hurry in moving him. He never does anything productive or team building in the off season anyway, so it makes no diffrrence which team he's aligned with for the Summer. If the Jets think they really can get Rodgers into the house and working early in the Summer, then they will ante up eventually. And if the sticker price gets too low, other teams will swoop in and snipe him from the Jets.

Except A-a-ron quits @ that point

Rodgers holds the leverage and obviously wanted to paint the current Packer regime as the bad guys while saying " he has no hard feelings"

Packers brass can take the stance they don't care about taking the salary cap hit & risk getting nothing in return. But Green Bay is a different story from the other franchises. It literally is responsible for the 💰 to the people of the town. Not good business to ignore your fiduciary duty to the people. That can get you fired

Management has weakened their position by publicly stating they are ready to move on & allow Rodgers to meet w/ the Jets. .

My dream scenario is the Packers place too high of demands & Rodgers shows up unannounced at camp to hold court w/ the press everyday. How entertaining would that be 😁

Because you just can’t get too much of Rodgers?

Mercedes Lewis. He catches more passes during the session than he has in the past 3 years.

That would be totally out of character for him.
Though he might invite them to a Sweat Lodge or something. Not that he would join them.

The Jets should sign Jackson
The Packers should trade Rodgers to the Texans for a 2nd.
The entire world would have peace for a day, while Rodgers' head exploded.

They cant trade him where they want is the thing, he's got a no trade clause so he has to approve whatever it is.
