That staff is a bunch of guys on their way out, looking for work. Rivera won't get another gig, as a HC. I doubt he will be a co-ordinator, either, at this stage. He's 61. Likely done.

Total reset coming up in DC.
Bienemy has overachieved pretty easily and should get some interviews based on what he did in KC and the flashes of respectability in Washington. Remember, Howell is a 5th round pick. He's not the guy, but I don't know why we're acting like a lot more should be happening than what has.
If there has been anything EB has done is interview. He’s “good” at it. Tomlin will take the spotlight in the next year.
There will be a lot of openings in the offseason:

Chicago, Chargers, Carolina, Vegas
Potentially: New England, Atlanta, Washington, New Orleans

I'm not sure how legitimate the Tomlin stuff is, but Bienemy at times this year had Howell looking competent. I don't know what more he needs to prove on the field.

Either way, I don't think not getting Howell to play at a high level is a knock.

Washington has good receivers and capable RBs, but they're flawed significantly pretty much everywhere else.
There's enough dirt on Bienemy, and enough players that don't like him, that he's not going to be a HC. He hasn't earned a HC position in the NFL. He hasn't over achieved. Yards based on trailing and pass attempts etc. Meaningless. I am not sure exactly how he has "over achieved".

Players past and present don't seem to like him enough to make this guy a first time HC. We don't see the inside, but it's clear that the NFL doesn't think he is qualified. HC's are guys that need to galvanize entire rosters, and he seems to have issues with players way too much.
I just don't see it happening, and I don't think this year helped, with even more smoke about his relation to players. Teams want to win, if he were that good, he'd likely get a chance. The narrative of him being a HC has come and gone. I'd be shocked if he was hired as a HC after this season.

We can talk about his flaws and whether or not a team would ultimately select him, but the idea that he hasn't "earned" a HC role after four conference championships, three Superbowl appearances and two Superbowl wins as an offensive coordinator is laughable. There are coaches who got their jobs with a fraction of his resume.

Howell is not a starter, but there is plenty of tape out there that shows Bienemy getting everything possible out of this offense and making a 5th round pick look somewhat competent.

How hasn't someone who was the OC of two Superbowl teams earned a shot at being a HC? Disagree. So does the NFL. We don't have the same amount of intel and info as executives do, so we're looking through keyholes. All those Pats coaches weren't good at being a HC. Being part of a Dynasty doesn't mean you have what it takes to be a HC. We will see if that changes after this season, but IMO he has less chance than he did a year ago. Have a good night.

It's likely personality/player relations. A guy like Demeco Ryans was heavily sought after, being a top co-ordinator, on the other side of the ball, and GM's are more prone to hiring offensive coaches. He had/has a great reputation of being a leader and a person who gets the best out of his players, and a guy they really want to play for.

Bienemy is a good co-ordinator, but that alone doesn't make a good HC. We've seen it countless times.

Like I said, we can point to those reasons. There have been questions about his past and personality that some believe makes him a liability. But it's hilarious to say he hasn't "earned it" when you look at his accomplishments. There is no higher example of earning it in the NFL.

My point is, as I stated above. I suppose his "offensive success" has earned the interviews, and back checking people do on HC's, but clearly there is something that comes up, and there's a ton of stuff on his issues with players, coaching styles etc. Josh McDaniels "earned it", and he was a disaster. He should NEVER have gotten another shot after INDY, but Davis is a dupe.

His back history, and issues with players, likely scare teams off. Maybe his interviews aren't great either. We don't see the entire picture. I just don't think this year helped his cause, with more players having some issues with him. We'll see in the off season. I'm off to bed.

Lots of time later to discuss coaching candidates. Have a great day tomorrow, with whoever you choose to spend it with. No joke. Be well.

I know what you’re alluding to but a simple bit of google research will tell you all you need to know about why he hasn’t had a chance at a head coaching gig yet.

OC and HC are different jobs. being good at one doesn't make you good at the other. the fact that others have been promoted to their level of incompetence doesn't mean he should, too. if anything, so many others getting there with less while he couldn't, makes you think why is that.

Sam is a castaway ... Like Uncle Thurston the 3rd he was just along for the ride on a ship that eventually ran aground. Sam inherited the job, did nothing to earn it & couldn't keep it. Wentz , Heinicke and now Howell flopped despite having some decent weapons.

Need to revert back to the Redskins ... not of the Native American slur variety but out of embarrassment & being pissed off 😡

Riverboat Ron was lucky he had Daniel Snyder drawing away the attention from how bad of a HC he is .

Looks like where there's smoke signals there's a firing... We heard that some scout saw the plumes that rose and interpreted ( or is that intercepted ) the signals message. " The Mighty Wolverine of the Midwest is coming to D.C. " ( along w/ his QB... A new wave of McCarthyism in Washington )
