Good day for Brock Purdy, rough day for Sam Darnold at 49ers practice.

Purdy: 13-19
Darnold: 1-7
Trey Lance: 3-3

Purdy was very sharp, especially on throws outside the numbers. Darnold’s accuracy was down today, especially into the seams. Cam Latu dropped another pass (from Darnold) and kicked the pylon in frustration. Drops really adding up for the rookie.

In the offseason, in practice, is when you can take risks, push yourself, see what you can get away with. See if you can fit a pass into a window. Some qbs throw lots of picks in practice, and play smarter, less of a gunslinger, when turnovers matter.

Purdy lover here, if you didn't know. I already anointed him a studly QB, one of the best in game today and the best 49er QB since Steve Young. I'm a Brockoholic, so here's some stats to support my claims:

-- The victory moved Purdy to 8-0 in his career during the regular season, which is the third-most consecutive wins by a quarterback to begin their NFL career since 1970. The only other quarterbacks with a longer streak are Ben Roethlisberger (15 consecutive wins) and Mike Tomczak (10 consecutive wins).

-- Purdy finished Thursday's game with a passer rating of 111.3, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history with a passer rating of 90 or higher in each of his first eight career starts.

-- Career Stats: 66.67% completion percentage, 20TD-4INTs, only 2 fumbles, nearly 250 passing yards per game, a career passer rating over 107 (best all time through his career games), 3 rushing touchdowns, and a 2023 QBR of 77 (3rd in the NFL).

Grabbed him in both my startups this year at 6.10 and 7.07. Feels like stealing at this point.

Don't know how much of his skillset is transferrable outside of Shanny's system, but while he is in SFO he's about the perfect match for that team.
