Bad Luck… Anyone else?
Bad Luck… Anyone else?
Second highest points scored through 4 weeks and top scorer and I have a pretty large margin between us and the herd. I’m about to be 1-3 unless J. Wilson scores 33. Anyone else out there with crap luck?

It happens. I had the most points and highest total win play % in my dynasty league in 2019 and somehow didn't even make the playoffs. Very frustrating season, all you can do is hold on and hope for better matchups.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
Your league needs to have Median scoring.
With Median scoring you have 2 points available each week, 1 point H2H, and the 2nd point playing against the league.
So in a 10 team league, the five highest scorers get a point, 12 team, top 6 get a point, 20 team, top 10 get a point.
In my 20 team league I am about to go to 7-1 now, losing week 1 H2H, but still got a point because I was in the top 10 scorers in the league for that week. Got 2 points in weeks 2, 3, and 4.
Median scoring helps eliminate much of the luck factor.
But I still had bad luck, costly win in week 4. I had the best RB room in the league with Jonathan Taylor and Javonte Williams, and it looks like I will lose both of them to injuries.
So even though I won this week, it feels like a loss.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
last year i had the second overall scoring. missed the playoffs.
Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
Median scoring souns like Victory Points. I think either of those is an upgrade over traditional head to head only. Or play double headers each week. Seems like every year in every league there is one team that just has the worst luck in scheduling.MacDaddy123 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 10:49 pmYour league needs to have Median scoring.

Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
This week I was 2nd in scoring and lost. Allen, Barkley, Tyreek, Lamb against Ekeler, Jefferson and Hockenson. LOL Hockenson.
It happens. Hopefully there'll be a week when if my team has a down week, I get lucky vs a similar down or bad team.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
In my league we have two wins available each week. One is the normal head to head matchup, and the other is against the median. It's a good way to cancel out a season of bad luck losses as one of the top scorers for the year.

My team started out terrible the first 3 weeks as none of my team was doing well. Started 0-3 but managed to climb out of the funk in week 4 and won and also had top points in the week to win some money but 1 week won't turn around 3 dreadful weeks. Hoping things continue to improve moving forward.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
I was just looking at one of my teams, because they look good on paper.
That team is now 1-3, in 8th place in that league, and yet I lead the league in scoring.
Scoring 20+ more points than the 2nd place team.

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
For this in MFL, using Power Ranking is another way to help eliminate the randomness of scheduling. For a 12 team league we do where each of 4 division winners get into the playoffs and then the next two based on power rank. We’ve done it for ~8 years and there hasn’t been a year where the 6th Power Ranked team didn’t make the playoffs (meaning it has always been the top 6 teams).

Re: Bad Luck… Anyone else?
I'm having a bit of different experience of bad luck this year. I have won all my games but my points have basically been going down each week, due to injuries and and under performance. Feels like a reckoning is coming shortly...
14 team 2 QB PPR TEP league:
Pre season injuries: Zach Wilson, Kittle
During the season: Herbert, Elijah Mitchell, Swift, Javonte, Pittman
Under performing: Chase, Pittman (post injury), Kittle, Elijah Moore, AJ Dillon, Michael Carter getting phased out
