Re: 2022-23 coaching carousel
Could a possible skeleton be that Bieniemy doesn't call plays?...
Re: 2022-23 coaching carousel
Not everyone is head coaching material. Bienemy has had over 15 interviews by now without a HC offer.
Maybe he is a disorganized mess in an interview or comes across as My Way or the Highway type but at this point the odds of ever being a HC seem long regardless of how we on the outside think.
It's pretty obvious teams don't want him as the face of the franchise from a HC perspective.
He may be a fine Coordinator but that doesn't mean he can manage an entire staff and delegate authority in a confident and efficient way.

There's been coaches who've been hired who didn't call plays. Zac Taylor was just the QB coach for the Rams before getting the Bengals job.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 1:11 pm Could a possible skeleton be that Bieniemy doesn't call plays?...

And Nagy and Pederson came from the exact same role before him and got coaching jobs.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 4:05 pmThere's been coaches who've been hired who didn't call plays. Re: 2022-23 coaching carousel
I sense a similarity between 3 of them and then an outlier...probably just a coincidence though right? I don't want to go down that rabbit hole. I guess we'll find out what he has in WAS. Hopefully he'll call plays there so he can prove himself. That's a steep hill to climb.ericanadian wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 6:04 pmAnd Nagy and Pederson came from the exact same role before him and got coaching jobs.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 4:05 pmThere's been coaches who've been hired who didn't call plays. For what it is worth, there has been feedback from multiple teams that he doesn't interview particularly well.

Jim Bob Cooter, the best name in NFL Coaching, is now the OC for the Colts.
Re-unites with Steichan, they were both on the Eagles staff in 2021. He got some really good play out of the Stafford Lions a few years back, I think this is a decent hire.
I am once again talking myself into the Colts passing game as potential Fantasy values for the 2nd offseason in a row... shoot me now...

I would think a lot of that will depend on who they draft. I’m not sure Levis or even Stroud is going to be a hit the ground running sort of player. Might take some time.mild wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 1:59 pm Jim Bob Cooter, the best name in NFL Coaching, is now the OC for the Colts.

Stroud, maaaybe... but I was more thinking of Bryce, if indeed Irsay is good to his word and goes after "the Alabama kid who looks pretty good".ericanadian wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 2:09 pm I would think a lot of that will depend on who they draft. Lot of mocks have them climbing to 1.01. If it happens, I'd definitely be intrigued by Pittman / etc

Hold on, you still listen to the words that come out of Irsay's mouth?

Jim Bob Cooter gets to coach Mo Alie-Cox. The script is really coming together.mild wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 1:59 pm Jim Bob Cooter, the best name in NFL Coaching, is now the OC for the Colts.

Re: 2022-23 coaching carousel
I do, because he still owns the team, and he doesn't have a poker face worth a damn.
It's no secret that this cycle, the Colts are "in" on finding a young QB and getting off the "retread veteran" cycle. They are in prime position at 4 to take one. It's all pretty out in the open.
Irsay blabbing openly about a top-rated QB prospect strikes me more as him being an idiot, parroting his GM's scouting report, than as him deliberately smokescreening - I gotta be honest, that's just the historical shoe that fits.

Re: 2022-23 coaching carousel
I guess because I see him speak and try and be "strategic" so often locally, this screams of him thinking he is smarter than others and trying to push people in a Bryce direction. I am firmly in the camp that the Colts are targeting Stroud.
