Congrats!
So I suspect that Hall, Walker, and London went ahead of Wilson, Williams, and Burks.
Who was the reach?
Yep those were the top 3. 1.04 was James Cook.
I agree. Guy did need a RB, but I would have instead traded that pick for a known RB. Cook at 1.04 was way too early.

I am SO not a scout - but still, watching Williams’ film I just don’t see it. Where is this sky high ceiling, other than admittedly insane speed?

I’m not saying his backers are wrong, I defer to others when it comes to college film, but I’m curious what I’m missing.

He’s a great all around athlete, though the speed and burst are definitely the elite portions of that profile. He’s also coming from Alabama which has a pretty solid record of getting guys ready for the NFL. Template for his sort of profile would be Ruggs and maybe Waddle. What are you seeing as potential hurdles to him being successful in the NFL outside of the injury?

Compare him to say Jaylen Waddle or Henry Ruggs. Similar speed and route running skills, but he’s longer.

I am currently in a 12 team SF TEP PPR IDP startup draft, and I am stoked that I just traded up from 8.01 to 7.08 to grab Jameson Williams!!

Surprisingly, in this draft, the rookie WR's went in this order (so far):
Garrett Wilson
Chris Olave
Drake London
Treylon Burks
Jameson Williams.

I just see a guy who is blazing fast, but - to my naive eyes - I don’t see a crazy good route runner, a jitterbug agility-wise, or a dominant point of catch receiver. I see, a really fast guy.

Again, I can’t emphasize enough how little weight I’m putting into my own college film evaluations, but I was more impressed with Ruggs’ tape (I actually saw a guy who seemed to do a LOT of work in the middle of the field and could be a all-around WR) than Jameson’s.

Ruggs danced way too much at the line and just had a weird delay relative to the other receivers. He was consistently the last guy to move off the line after the snap. I suspect he was lined up in the slot a lot in order to avoid having to deal with press coverage. Gruden seemed to get him past it after his rookie year, but I don’t think Ruggs lined up inside in college because he was a good route runner.

I don’t think Williams is elite from an agility or physicality perspective and he’ll need a lot of work on route running like a lot of receivers do. I do think he has very good agility and strength though. I do have concerns about the fact that his one elite trait is going to muted by having Goff as his QB, but I don’t see Goff staying long and year one is mostly a write off anyways with his injury.
