Meyer is the new poster boy for self destructive behavior. He was handed the keys because he was considered a great coach but wow......

My guess is Lawrence was talking behind the scenes after Robinson was benched. The Lambo story may have been the trigger.

What a bad hire. I actually thought it was a bold move at the time given that tea was desperate but obviously this was an epic fail.

Thinking Byron Leftwich is next up. He understands QB's and Lawrence is the future who could really use a good QB type coach.

My guess is that college coaches will have a very difficult time getting an NFL head coaching job for awhile based on how poorly Urban handled the transistion.

Especially when there are some quality NFL assistants out there. Bieniemy or Leftwich sound great. Or an experienced one like Doug Pederson could be interesting (although with how things ended in Philly not sure if Shad would be interested).

I doubt it changes anything. For every Urban Meyer there's a Kliff Kingsbury. Then there's everything in between. I'm sure college coaches have a harder time breaking into the NFL as it is, but I doubt this changes anything as a whole

I doubt it changes anything. For every Urban Meyer there's a Kliff Kingsbury. Then there's everything in between. I'm sure college coaches have a harder time breaking into the NFL as it is, but I doubt this changes anything as a whole

Agree; That media narrative should have died with the success of Jimmy Johnson. The reality is how the individual deals with people and gives respect is what matters in addition to football knowledge.

That said, in this case I imagine it will be someone with NFL experience.
