Van Jefferson
he's making the analytical guys look foolish for not touching him anywhere in any league.
despite being the 3rd wr behind kupp and woods, then kupp and obj, he is the wr28 in ppr leagues.
since the bye he has averaged 18ppg the last 3 weeks with pretty consistent production.
a fantastic wr3, or flex option in shallower leagues. not bad for a at most 3rd round pick but more probably a 4th or 5th round pick in your draft.
always trust your eyes and not some stats on a spreadsheet.

679 receiving yards. Stud.
Re: Van Jefferson
Don't forget those 10 rushing yards...
In all seriousness, I steered clear of Van because of his age coming into the league, he will be 26 next year going into his 3rd year. As well as it being such a deep class last year, he was my rookie WR14 lol
No doubt he's been better than Edwards, Shenault and Mims but I also wonder how those guys would be doing in a competent passing offense with 2 guys taking away the attention. I'm not really getting any FOMO from not having Van on any teams. I'm glad he's helping OP out though
He's certainly outperformed a 3rd round rookie pick but I want to know the process that let OP determined that he would be a value. Saying I told you so after the fact doesn't help anyone. I'm not going to change my process because one WR3 slipped by me

Re: Van Jefferson
Yep, he's been really good value considering you could've got him for nothing. He was a good route runner coming out of school and that's really clicked this year in the offense. With Woods recovering from an ACL tear and Beckham's future unknown, he seems to have a path to continuing this next season
Re: Van Jefferson
I am not knocking the player, but I think that destination is pure gold for WR's
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Re: Van Jefferson
I grabbed him in a lot of leagues with late picks just based on his draft capital. He’s certainly been a “hit” relative to cost, and I’ve unfortunately been forced to rely on him a number of times in a redraft league, but not seeing “future stud” here. Again, happy that he’s turned into a competent emergency/bye week fill-in, but not sure that’s worth taking a victory lap.

Re: Van Jefferson
He wins all over the field, he's a long term WR3 who you can start with confidence. He's a tough buy, been trying for most of the season.
Re: Van Jefferson
Are we patting ourselves on the back over a middling WR3? I mean don’t get me wrong, he’s been alright. So has K. Bourne, who was a FA in a lot of leagues and has scored just as many points. And both guys are only “break glass in case of emergency” type starters to me, I wouldn’t want to be rolling either out on a weekly basis. I mean strictly price wise, has he even increased in value? I guess he’s worth a 22 2nd at this point? At the time, the 2020 3rd you used to pick him was also prob worth about a 2nd in two years, so…?
Again I’m not saying he’s garbage, or not worth anything. And I’m not even an analytics guy. But if this is the best player you are missing out on using that system, I don’t think it’s worth losing sleep over

Re: Van Jefferson
i didn't start this thread to say he's some kind of stud wr.
i just found it weird how people said back then they wouldn't touch him at all. who else did they pick in that range (late 3rd or later) that worked out for them? couldn't be many players.

Re: Van Jefferson
Claypool in some leagues was a 3rd. Later then Van Jefferson, I had Gabe Davis and DPJ rated higher.Kurt G.O.A.T. wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 4:00 pm i didn't start this thread to say he's some kind of stud wr.

The TE, Trautman and Kmet were later. Not saying they've done much, but it's still very early for the 2020 class.
Possibly Herbert in a 1 QB league

Not that there was a lot of optimism surrounding Van the Man, but now he's heading to passing game hell.

Re: Van Jefferson
As a hoper and believer from two years ago (no hope and no belief any longer) I'm actually happy VJ has left LA for ATL. It certainly can't get any worse in Atlanta than it's been so far in 2023 for Van. It may not be better ... but it cannot be worse.Shoreline Steamers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:56 pm Not that there was a lot of optimism surrounding Van the Man, but now he's heading to passing game hell.
