It is between Grant and Nance for the 3rd down back. Grant has never been a good blocker and Nance is a decent one. Grant made 2 blocking mistakes last game I beleive, one resulting in Rodgers getting hit.

I agree they will try and trade him first. Thompson said as much when talking about the team yesterday. He said at this point in preseason there is plenty of time to make some trades to make us better.

I would not be as surprised if they cut Grant. He has looked rusty all preseason and the Packers believe in young athletic players. HC McCarthy said all he needs is more reps.

On a side note I think Greens rookie draft value goes up a bit.
Wow. :wtf:

Put me in that boat with Guppy if they cut him.

Grant took a paycut to stay in GB, along w/ receiving a roster bonus that the Packers paid early. He won't be cut anytime soon.

Personally they will do a cut and re-sign most likely. They already have done in the off season.

This is some of the most ridiculous nonsense I've read in a long time.

Packers guarantee Ryan Grant's 2011 salary

Updating a previous item, the Packers agreed to guarantee Ryan Grant's 2011 base salary when they reworked his contract earlier in camp.
This will lock Grant into a roster spot. Though his cost moved from $3.5 million to $2.5 million, the Packers aren't going to cut ties with a player guaranteed that much money. The $1 million slash was agreed upon by the Packers in order to use toward RG Josh Sitton and TE Jermichael Finley's likely forthcoming extensions. Grant remains the favorite for carries in Green Bay, but a possession-by-possession rotation with James Starks is a looming possibility.
wasn´t going to happen this year anyway!
24 roster spots - 1QB,2RB,3WR,1TE,1Flex

RB: Breece,Walker,Taylor,BRobinson,Allgeier,Spiller
WR:Jefferson,Lamb,DJMoore,QJohnston,Jameson,MMims, T.Marshall,Shakir,Gallup

"(RotoWire) Grant accepted a $1 million reduction in his base salary in exchange for a guaranteed contract, according to the Milwuakee Journal Sentinel.
Analysis: This restructuring of Grant's contract probably assures him of a roster spot this season. There was some thinking that the Packers could cut him if he didn't look fully recovered from last season's knee injury, but now he'll get paid even if he gets cut. Still, the fact that there even was some thought that Grant could get cut points to James Starks being more of the featured back this season."

Switch and I'm good. It's hard to buy beer when you're under 21.

Listened to Jason Wilde on am540 ESPN in Milwaukee and he predicts now that Grant has signed this new deal that the Packers will keep him. He still does look rusty and he has missed a few blocks this preseason. I do expect Starks and Green to get the ball some to so expectations should be limited. But I do think 700-800 yards and 5 TD's are still obtainable once he gets enough reps in preseason. They are just going to spread it around a bit.

Also remember last year when Starks was healthy and Jackson was the lead RB. He said he would play the hot hand. So maybe the GB running game just got a bit murky.

Who said the GB running game wasnt already murky? I thought everyone was on board with a 2 1/2 headed monster in GB with Kuhn being the 1/2.
