Ummmm did I miss something here? I haven't heard anything negative about Grant at all.. Could just be reporter speak but still noteworthy for both Grant and Starks owners..
Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel believes Ryan Grant is not a lock to make the final roster.

I just read this on Rotoworld and it seems to be a thought because of his salary for 2011...it really makes no sense to me since they are going for a repeat and appear to be the favorites or one of the top 3 teams in football

With that salary? I doubt it.. RB's aren't what they used to be, most teams are content with having 2-3 good backs to rotate in than having that 1 stud.. Tom Silverstien is a big time insider with the Packers. If he thinks Grant may not make the roster then they are definitely at least considering it.

Living in Packer Country I get to hear a bunch of writers talk Packer Football all day. It seems from what I hear is Green and Starks have locked down the lead RB roles. It is between Grant and Nance for the 3rd down back. Grant has never been a good blocker and Nance is a decent one. Grant made 2 blocking mistakes last game I beleive, one resulting in Rodgers getting hit.
I agree they will try and trade him first. Thompson said as much when talking about the team yesterday. He said at this point in preseason there is plenty of time to make some trades to make us better.
I would not be as surprised if they cut Grant. He has looked rusty all preseason and the Packers believe in young athletic players. HC McCarthy said all he needs is more reps.
On a side note I think Greens rookie draft value goes up a bit.
