I don't disagree that many Gabe owners would hold him over an offer of a 3rd.

But it never hurts to ask. Maybe the OP has a rare Gabe owner who would trade for a 3rd. Or maybe the OP has a 2.09 - that's technically a 2nd and might sway a Gabe owner's mind, but it isn't an early enough pick to be an overpay in this situation.

Never hurts to ask.

Stuff just above Gabe I'd rather try pay him upward for:

David Montgomery, Pat Friermuth, Amari Cooper, 2023 mid-2nd, Cam Akers, Rashod Bateman, Zay Flowers, maybe Elijah Moore and Kadarious Toney

Stuff around his ADP that I'd rather have:

Evan Engram, maybe David Njoku, Josh Downs, Jalin Hyatt, 2024 early 2nd, Khalil Herbert, Herndon Hooker, maybe Kamara if contending, maybe Chig, Kincaid, maybe Skyy Moore

Stuff below his ADP that I'd gladly go get with mild-to-medium add coming back:

Brandin Cooks, Kendre Miller, Abanikanda, Rashaad Penny, Late 2023 2nd, maybe DJ Chark, maybe DPJ

I'm not a fan though, so

The best use for Gabe Davis in a trade is to try and package up IMO. Whether it's moving up in the first, or packaging him with another player to get a player you consider better than that player.

Going into the 2023 season the most realistic outcome for Gabe is a sometimes flex worthy play. I put that at a late 2nd at best or solid 3rd. The potential is there for some upside, even as high as a very good WR2 IF Diggs suffers an injury, but that is a remote possibility at this time. That remote possibility makes current shareholders want to hold out for a good 2nd or even a late 1st, but I doubt most non-shareholders would view that as a good price to pay.

If you need WRs badly and don't mind the possibility that he won't help much, I think it's easily worth a 3rd to take a shot. Just be realistic about his outcome. And if possible, double up on your odds by also acquiring another WR longshot.
Thing is though, as many who support Davis in the thread have pointed out, this shot will miss 99/100 times. As nobody who owns him currently will be selling for a 3rd. I've been trying to sell for a year. I finally rid myself of him today. I got: D. Mills, D. Bell, and 3.01 (superflex)

Last year was disappointing, but if he can avoid a DHop signing or first round rookie WR I think he can be a buy low. A few sources have noted he was never right after an early season ankle/foot injury.

Been trying to get him for years now since our startup draft, including this week.

I have Allen so it'd be nice, not too much more to it than that lol

Then again, Gabe's been SO up and down (and a lot of down last year), so maybe everyone's over-valuing him, myself included.

Seeing what people want back in trades recently, including in this thread, I'm thinking it really is time to move on.

I think a very early 2nd would get it done with 60+% of Gabe owners.

A late 2nd might be enough for some (maybe 20%, just guessing) Gabe owners to trade him away.

An offer of a 3rd would be rejected by most Gabe owners, but might work with a few.

Just curious ... what would you want to pay to acquire Gabe?

Agree, he's somewhere around a 2nd, with lots of variance within that depending who you ask.

Around a mid/late 2nd or early 3rd is what I'm willing to trade to get Gabriel Davis right now.

But my experience he's still mostly being value more like an early 2nd or slightly more right now (after being valued like a late 1st early on last year), which I'm not keen on moving - additionally because I only have '25 picks right now and would like to keep them unless I get a slam-dunk veteran.

I'd like to straight up "change of scenery" swap other mid-level young vets like Claypool or maybe E Mitchell for him, but definitely not both for Gabe - that's an overpay. All three still have some upside, though Gabe is likely still a bit overvalued right now, while the other two are probably a bit undervalued. Exploring a bunch of mid/low-end WRs because I need WR help most (though TE is a close second need now that Knox may have taken an unexpected hit).

So yeah, it all adds up to moving on from the idea of Gabe as a decent mid-level add to my roster - he'd only be a nice to have (since I have Josh) that doesn't move the needle, ya know? Hell, that's probably true of him for any dynasty team!

It's time to resurrect one of the best and least tedious threads on DLF.

But, what's this? It's a huge plot twist... DLF friends... I think, for the first time... I'm in on Gabe Davis.

I know. I knowwwwwww. I know. But here's the thing: this time last year, Gabe Davis was being priced as a premiere WR2, topping out as the WR16 on KTC in September 2022.

Flash forward to now... you can tell yourself any version of the 2022 story that you like: "he was bad because of his ankle"... or, "once Josh Allen hurt his elbow, it just wasn't the same"... or even just:

"We might have been slightly ahead of our skis anointing Gabe Davis as the future co-WR1 of Buffalo, but give me a break, I had to take a shot at a 23 year old attached to Josh Allen"

I get all of that. But whatever your narrative: Gabe Davis is officially priced right now as "just a guy" on KTC. Literally a back end WR4... this man is now a post-hype sleeper.

Even if he does nothing more than be "just a guy" in 2023 - he is absolutely priced correctly for that, and need simply be "just a guy" to pay off that current ADP. Right now he can be had for a 2nd according to KTC - and you might even be able to do better than that offering a 3rd+.

If I can have him cheap for a pair of 3rds as a contender? I think I'm totally interested in that in the year of our lord 2023.

I'm with Mild here, I think he's a great depth buy at his price this year. And there is still the slight chance that just maybe it really was an ongoing ankle issue that held him back last season. Worst case, you are getting a starting WR tied to Josh Allen and the Bills offense, for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
