When does your league have rookie draft?

My league has rookie draft week 3 of preseason. Looking to possibly have draft earlier. Curious on when other leagues have theirs.

I'm in 7 drafts and nearly all of them take place at different times.

-- 2 of them started right after the draft.
-- 1 started this past weekend.
-- 1 will start on Monday.
-- 1 will start on the third Saturday in June.
-- 1 will start in early August.
-- 1 will start ???? It's different every summer because of several circumstances and we're still in the discussion phase.

I would love to be in a league that drafts before the NFL draft, but my plate is full, and I'd also feel bad since I'd snatch all valuable RBs before others would have a chance.

Everyone who has done a draft before the NFL Draft swears by them. They are the best.

We do a slow draft that takes about 4-7 days on average (only 3 rounds) starting July 1

We do our rookie draft the morning of the season opener. It's awesome. We usually get it done anywhere from an hour to minutes before kickoff. It's an awesome day.

We do ours the week after the nfl draft. I like it this way because I believe it gives me a competitive advantage. I research throughout the season so my league mates that start their research at the combine are behind. Regardless, I like an early draft one way or another so everyone doesn’t hear from the talking heads for months before we draft.

My online league started our draft on May 1.
My local in person leagues both draft week 3 or so in the preseason.

I prefer the earlier draft dates. The beauty is you have an early draft date, then run a waiver or even free agent draft late in thd preseason.

I am looking to try and get our league to move up our draft date. I think it would be more fun and interesting. There is at least 1 guy in the league that is totally against it because he says the more time you have to get information on players the better. He feels that it is necessary to have training camp and most of preseason to evaluate rookies.

Whether or not you agree with waiting....that 1 guy is right. The longer you wait, it gives owners time to gather info.

I have drafts starting right after nfl draft and throughout the summer. It's really just a time to get the leagues back together for a few days in most of my leagues. Don't prefer a specific time of year, but I do think it should be held same time every year in each league.

Having the draft earlier forces you make a decision based more off of what you see or think about a player before he is on an nfl field. You don't have all the training camp talk, preseason tape analysis. It makes it more challenging and interesting.
