Devonta Freeman Thread: Here we go ...

people forget this guy was the OVERALL RB1 just two years ago.

That same year Adrian Peterson, Danny Woodhead, Doug Martin, and Lamar Miller were RB2, RB3, RB4, and RB5.

I like Freeman a lot but what guys did two years ago is only partially relevant. We can't use those points this year.

It's a small sample size, but I can't give freeman away in the league I own him in. Personally I'd have him at around 1.2, but I doubt you get that unless the 1.2 owner is a contender. Definitely not the 1.1 though...

13 TDs, 90 receptions, and 700 more receiving yds, is quite a bit more productive, in fantasy and real life. I too have love for CJA, but wouldn't trade Freeman for 5 of him right now.

CJA also benefitted from a Peyton Manning led aerial attack where he ran against weak boxes, and a defense that had them playing from ahead, hence fully committing to the run late in games ' 14.

Well again that would go back to the whole workload thing, if you gave Anderson the same number of touches as freeman he would've been better. As for the Manning thing Anderson definitely benefited from it during his 6 games as a starter in 2014 but in 2015 and beyond (when Peyton had a higher int% than any QB in the league) with the qb carousel theyve had i think it kinda swings it back as a pretty big negative, especially with how good Matt Ryan has been comparatively.

yeah, but CJA didn't get a bigger workload and Freeman did that sharing a backfield with Coleman. Comparing their numbers to arrive at the conclusion they are similar is ridiculous.

I voted yes. However, you should strongly consider moving Freeman. I'm not very high on him ever since Shanahan left and now he's a liability with multiple concussions, and he's coming off PCL and MCL injuries.

For what it's worth NFL is reporting that he's going on IR for groin surgery with the potential to return this year. I'm as confused about this as anybody.

I love the guy that comes into the thread about a player who is potentially lost for the season and is complaining about his waiver claims on other players that benefit from the injury...

Just remember that the last time we really saw Freeman was last season when he played 14 games. His 16 game pace would have made him RB8 on the year. Falcons owe him a lot of money in 2019 and he's not dead.

I am going to try hard to deal Coleman now. I know he is a FA and all next year, but he has done very little with some great opportunities, including this past week. I get that could mean it is not a seller's market, but I think enough people are still very high on him and his future.

Still gotta be a top 20 RB right? No way I'd take a Collins, Drake, or Henry over him and TBH I'd still prefer him to most of the underperforming rookies (Penny, Rojo, Royce and even Chubb)

Yes if your intention is to sell, the window is open for Coleman but maybe wait until he has a good game? He's been awful since Carolina in week two. Not like Freeman being on IR changes that.

Agree with all these names save Chubb. But Freeman does have me concerned.

I just paid a '19 1st for Freeman from a guy that blew up his team a week ago. The concern is real, not trying to pretend. Just trying to maintain a measured outlook here and not totally freak out, man.
