Trade Etiquette Questions Thread

Postby MelsPersianTail » Sat Feb 09, 2013 1:36 pm

How do people feel about an owner voting against a trade they proposed, that was accepted by the other owner? Cold feet I guess, or bad form?

Def bad form. Vetos shouldn't be allowed IMO but looking back on our startup last year somehow Wes Welker got traded for DHB and Turbin. And not not even to the Lynch owner. :surprised:

I refuse to play in leagues that vetoed trades ; that is kids stuff in my opinion .
but the owner that vetoed his own trade should be ejected from the league for being a douchebag.

League that vetoes trades suck. Most leagues have rules in place to post comments about questionable trades for the Commish to review but this is Dynasty for God's sake. I may be planning two or three years into the future. Just because somebody does not agree with my ranked list, doesn't mean they have a right to veto.

I'm not a fan of vetoes of trades in dynasty at all unless it is obvious collusion.

Agreed. Additionally, if it's obvious collusion, your commissioner should be able to overturn it. If not, you should get a new commissioner/league. There's never a need for a community to vote on trade vetoes.

Trade veto's

Anonymous cash leagues its a must. Group of buddies its not needed. Group of strangers from the web with nothing at stake is in the middle ground.

In a cash league from college we had a situation where the owner of a team slowly sold off his guys for picks. Future, first round, then another future first rounder going out eventually 4 years and eff'ed the league with the same owner. Then after landing 8 firsts over the next 4 years he quit the league. We could not fill the team because it was bound to lose money the next 3-5 years and the league folded. His team held the 1.1 and basically the 1.11 or 1.12.

Veto's have there purpose.

To me, this is a grey area. I play in about 8-10 anonymous online cash redrafts each season and I notice that vetos are used more to stop teams from getting better than it is to keep the league fair. For example, in one of the leagues I was in someone who drafted RBs 5 straight rounds was stacked, and someone drafted WRs 4 out of the first 5 rounds. The team with the RBs (and needed WRs) offered basically Spiller and RWilson (the team had a QB issue as well) for Calvin Johnson. This was an absolute fair deal and helped BOTH teams. It got vetoed...and the vote wasnt even close. Thats BS. Its gotten to the point where I sign up for no-trade leagues so I dont set myself up for disappointment when I dillusionally think a fair offer will get approved.
