Derrick Henry Thread - Is he still King Henry post injury?

The Titans are implementing a completely new offense, it will take some time before anyone can judge whether or not it is a success. Henry was criminally misused by the old coaching regime. He is nearly a perfect fit for the zone run scheme of Lafleur. As has already been pointed out, Henry had a 60 yard TD called back due to penalty. If it were not for that penalty, Henry would have had a 11-86-1 stat line in his first game playing in a new scheme. I am very high on him going forward.

As a Henry owner, I fear you are right...I held Abdullah from when he was a rookie until August of this year. I eventually had to cut him and missed the boat on trading him prior to last year when his value jumped back up to a 1st. Henry is starting to feel like that to me now. Ugh.

Again, I understand its only one game, but I fully expected Henry to be leading the backfield in touches pretty much weekly. In addition to the touches, Lewis saw 49 snaps (71%) while Henry only saw 20 snaps (29%). For me, thats a major change from what I expected in the spring.

Definitely a valid point. Its prob because Abdullah burned...but I am just a little nervous. Hopefully I am just overthinking it.

Henry was an awful call away from an 11/88/1 line and he's still going to get RZ carries. Also, keep in mind that the Titans are missing Jack Conklin. If there's anyone in your league jumping off the plank on Henry right now, buy.

The point is that Week 1 statlines do not determine how a season is going to go. The Titans are not going to overuse an undersized RB with a history of significant leg/knee injuries.

The Gurley stat is a bit misleading. He scored a TD and added 5/56 receiving to that 19/40 line. Henry isn't bailing you out with receptions.

I may or may not have entertained trading Gurley for Ajay after week 1 last year due to his inefficiency problems 2016, and looking the same dreadful ypc in 2017 and afraid his value would tank after another week or two of that

Thankfully being a bit trade shy of something I'm not 100% behind saved me

Not disagreeing, but Gurley buoyed his point totals with receiving capabilities, even during the 2016 Fisher debacle. That's not in Henry's game.
