Derrick Henry Thread - Is he still King Henry post injury?
Re: Derrick Henry
The Titans are implementing a completely new offense, it will take some time before anyone can judge whether or not it is a success. Henry was criminally misused by the old coaching regime. He is nearly a perfect fit for the zone run scheme of Lafleur. As has already been pointed out, Henry had a 60 yard TD called back due to penalty. If it were not for that penalty, Henry would have had a 11-86-1 stat line in his first game playing in a new scheme. I am very high on him going forward.

Re: Derrick Henry
For those who missed it --- the refs threw a ticky tack flag on Delaine Walker for the slightest of jersey tugs after Henry had already blown by.

Honestly what has changed since this time last spring?
Infact he tore off a really bad was run so if anything shouldn't his value be higher?
He showed very nice top end speed.
And even if you look at the Miami game as poor it's 1 game. Gurley will have 1 or 2 stat lines like that. Are we all selling Gurley after a bad week?

Re: Derrick Henry
What changed for me was that while I fully expected Lewis to get his touches, I did not expect Lewis to basically be getting twice the touches that Henry received. Again, I understand its only one game, but I fully expected Henry to be leading the backfield in touches pretty much weekly. In addition to the touches, Lewis saw 49 snaps (71%) while Henry only saw 20 snaps (29%). For me, thats a major change from what I expected in the spring.MrUbuto wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:37 pmFantasy footballers are so freaking fickle. The Red Rooster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 1:09 pmAs a Henry owner, I fear you are right...I held Abdullah from when he was a rookie until August of this year. Lewis played well, they rode the hot hand. Henry got 8 carries before Lewis touched the ball. The Red Rooster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:50 pm What changed for me was that while I fully expected Lewis to get his touches, I did not expect Lewis to basically be getting twice the touches that Henry received. Henry is the freak of nature. Lewis is the better running back.

Week 1 overreactions
This time last year, Alvin Kamara was coming off a 7 rush, 18 yard game with 4 receptions for 20 yards. Also this time last year, Todd Gurley came off a 19 rush/40 yard performance and some people were comparing him to Trent Richardson.

Definitely a valid point. Its prob because Abdullah burned...but I am just a little nervous. Yea but Kamara was 3rd string with zero expectations of leading the backfield. Hos stat line was actually considered far better than expected. Not a fair comp at allCameron Giles wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 3:40 pm Week 1 overreactions

Henry was an awful call away from an 11/88/1 line and he's still going to get RZ carries. Also, keep in mind that the Titans are missing Jack Conklin. If there's anyone in your league jumping off the plank on Henry right now, buy.The Red Rooster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 3:44 pmYea but Kamara was 3rd string with zero expectations of leading the backfield. The point is that Week 1 statlines do not determine how a season is going to go. The Titans are not going to overuse an undersized RB with a history of significant leg/knee injuries.

Agreed. I think 7-10 pts a week was what owners were expecting/hoping for with Kamara before he became The Gawd. The Red Rooster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 3:44 pmYea but Kamara was 3rd string with zero expectations of leading the backfield. The Gurley stat is a bit misleading. He scored a TD and added 5/56 receiving to that 19/40 line. Henry isn't bailing you out with receptions.

Re: Derrick Henry
I may or may not have entertained trading Gurley for Ajay after week 1 last year due to his inefficiency problems 2016, and looking the same dreadful ypc in 2017 and afraid his value would tank after another week or two of thatCameron Giles wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 3:40 pm Week 1 overreactions

Re: Derrick Henry
Not disagreeing, but Gurley buoyed his point totals with receiving capabilities, even during the 2016 Fisher debacle. That's not in Henry's game.jtd1387 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 7:03 pmThere were tons of people trashing Gurley for his ypc after week 1 least year.Orenthal Shames wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 4:22 pmAgreed.
