My thought is that I'll wait until next summer to assess him

Re: Stevan Ridley
With Ridley, Vereen, and BJGE, I think you have a full RBBC in New England. BJGE has earned a role in the Belichick RBBC. Vereen has a little more talent than Ridley, but is he really that much better than Ridley. I was more excited about both players before the draft than I am now.
I think Vereen is going too high in mocks I've seen and Ridley is going too low. Ridley looks like a nice 2nd round rookie pick, who can be productive but not a fantasy starter. Some mocks have him going in the 3rd round. Both players probably equally productive, but Ridley comes at a lower price.

Nice straight forward and pass catching abilities. I bet another team signs him after he doesn't make the roster, I don't see how he can beat out Danny Woodhead.seahawks506 wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMFrBEQi ... re=related
great example of his running style

Re: Stevan Ridley
They'd cut bums like Sammy Morris long before they'd cut Ridley- I think they drafted him in the 3rd, ahead of Leshoure for a reason. Not sure about Vereen yet, but Ridley is absolutely a 3-down backVintage wrote:Nice straight forward and pass catching abilities. Re: Stevan Ridley
Ridley seems to be going real late in most drafts. When should I start looking to grab him? Im thinking he goes 18-30.
Re: Stevan Ridley
Ridley's versatility is the reason why the Patriots picked him when then did. He isn't nearly as talented as Vereen but he is a special teams standout and has the ability/experience to play fullback and running back. He will be valuable to the Patriots but I can't see him have value for any FF team except as a handcuff in deep rosters.

Woodhead and Vereen arent exactly TD monsters.hosler427 wrote:Ridley's versatility is the reason why the Patriots picked him when then did. Vereen had 35 college TDs in three years (30 of them over the last two seasons) and that was sharing the backfield for all but his final season. He is much stronger and has better patience/vision than people give him credit for. I absolutely love the assumption that Vereen can't be an every down RB in the NFL....it is making him a bargain right now IMO.

Re: Stevan Ridley
Corey Dillon is the exception, not the rule. Vereen doesnt do any one thing overly well. He'll get about 12 touches or so a game, where as Ridley may get 5 or 6, but Ridley is gonna be the Tolbert of this offense.

Vereen does everything well...and I didn't mention Corey Dillon. Way to ignore Vereen's TD numbers though....Walsh_49 wrote:Corey Dillon is the exception, not the rule. Re: Stevan Ridley
Vereen is a stud and scored alot of TDs so the comment about him not being a TD producer is off base. He's a complete back that can be a 3 down player. If he had gone to another team he'd be in conversation with Leshoure and Williams for who to take after Ingram. BTW I like him more then Leshoure and he's pretty close to WillIams IMO.hosler427 wrote:Vereen does everything well...and I didn't mention Corey Dillon. Ridley went undrafted in my league, and when FA opens up, I'm trying to decide how much out of $100.00 to drop on him.
