Dynasty Draft Over Now What???

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Dynasty Draft Over Now What???

Postby ThatGuyBrian » Tue Aug 21, 2018 10:53 am

I am currently deep in the middle of a re-build. In the draft this year I was able to get a lot of young pieces but it looks like the team still needs a lot of help. So I am asking for some advice as to what the next step should be for this team, and there is no thought that I would be competing this year. Thanks

10 Team PPR Dynasty League: 27 player roster
1 Qb, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB, WR, TE), K, DST

QB: Ben Roethlisberger, Jared Goff, Josh Rosen (for when Big Ben retires)
RB: Jay Ajayi, Mark Ingram, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Royce Freeman, Ronald Jones, Kalen Ballage,
WR: TY Hilton, JuJu Smith-Shuster, Mike Williams, Keelan Cole, DJ Moore, Antonio Callaway, Deon Cain (stash), D.J. Chark, Corey Coleman, Tre'Quan Smith, James Washington, Dede Westbrook
TE: Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Trey Burton,
K: Justin Tucker
DST: Carolina, Tennessee

Thoughts:
Peterson- Picked up on a whim hoping he would do something, get a little value and move him for a pick.
Cain- Since I don't have a realistic expectation of competing I figure he is worth the stash
Big Ben- Doesn't have much longer so I drafted Rosen

I have been offered Duke Jonson for a 2019 2nd round pick

Well you certainly got a lot of youth at rb. I think for a 10 team league you have weaknesses everywhere. Yli wouldn't do the trade. For now I think you need to hope your investments (especially in rb) increase in value and you can trade them down the line for wr or qb help

You're in pretty good shape for the future, in theory. Your best bet is to sit back and let all those rookies increase in value, or let people approach you for them and try to sell high now. If most of them pan out, you should be in pretty good shape a year or two from now. Good job acquiring so many firsts this year, just keep that mentality up

Do you think that Jones is going to be able to figure it out or should I consider moving? Two people have inquired about him and brought up the struggles, but in my mind they are just trying to get him cheap.

Patience to me is the key here. You have a ton of potential, but need them to pay off. Let your rookies play and hopefully play well. I’d look to move TY and Ingram in season to the highest bidder. Other than that hope your rookies pay off. Good luck.

There's no reason to dump him right now because he's struggled a bit. Sometimes guys need time to adjust. I would hold him at least this season and see if he figures it out

Sounds like a plan. Just frustrating when you see a guy you just drafter struggling. I did drop Adrian Peterson and picked up Keelan Cole, who for some reason was dropped.

I wouldn't necessarily feel the need to hold guys like Cain, treadwell, patterson, etc in a 10 team league and instead would drop them for high upside running back depth. You need studs in a 10 team league and these guys aren't that imo. Running backs are the ones who get injured the most and therefore present the most opportunity (last year I had Carson, Collins and Dion hit and traded them for picks/upgrades). I did that by taking a lot of shots which you currently aren't doing at the RB position.

In terms of trades, move Big Ben, T.Y, Ingram, Ajayi (not a fan at all), move Carson to the penny owner or someone who likes him unless you believe in him long term, etc.
