Re: Luck - Still top 5?
I’m seeing Luck going off the board, usually around the 7th or 8th QB selected in 12 team dynasty startups this offseason and I’ve been in a bunch. Usually, you will see Rodgers, Wentz, Watson, Russ, Jimmy G/Cam/Goff, Jimmy G/Cam/Goff, then Luck, somewhere in there. Who knows, maybe he will be a good value? I took him in one startup, but the problem, you almost have to take another QB relatively soon after taking him, which I don’t like to do, because there’s still plenty of questions of how his shoulder will hold up. I’m encouraged by what I’m seeing and that he’s supposed to play in their first preseason game but if you’re a Luck owner, you still have to be nervous about the whole situation, imo.

I'll let the "bigger faster stronger" stuff slide, but I can't let this go. Eagles are at the top, so at best they can move laterally. Colts are at the bottom, so at worst they can move laterally. Impossible for your statement to be true.

I’d rather have the QB that’s D sucks and is playing from behind, as opposed to the QB that may be leading in a bunch of games and killing the clock on the ground a lot of the time...I think Blake Bortles was a QB 1 with this situations a couple years in a row....

Re: Luck - Still top 5?
I know this is kind of a side-topic from this thread, but for me Garoppolo finds himself in the mix for being one the best fantasy QBs based on three things: 1. He's looked pretty good when he's played... 2. He's tied to Kyle Shanahan for the foreseeable future... 3. He's 26 years old... That's enough upside for me to take the chance and have him in my top-10 QBs very solidly. When it comes down to it, there's no way I'm taking him ahead of Stafford or probably Watson in a start-up draft, but after that I'd start to think really hard about it.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 3:02 pm No idea why people have Garoppolo anywhere near the top 5.
Re: Luck - Still top 5?
Luck is not a generational talent, people were spoon fed that so long that now they believe it. He is a turnover machine. I'm too lazy to look it up, but he basically had the same numbers as Bortles in 2016 and averaged less than Bortles did in 2015 on per game basis, despite Bortles playing the whole year. I am not saying Bortles is better, but Luck isn't generational.
Is Luck top 5? Not for me, today. I'll re-evaluate at the end of the year. Dynasty values always change, but in instances where there are significant injuries to overcome I personally take a longer view and prefer to miss out on an undervalued player than keep losing value taking log shots.

Sure, 335 more yards or less than 20 yards per game (4240 vs 3905), but also 7 more ints. Obviously I prefer Luck (even an injured Luck) to Bortles, but my point is he isn't a generational talent.Lotto4Life wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:38 amIn rushing stats. You will anger the Luck lovers throwing that around.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I think Winston & Luck are incredibly similar quarterbacks in more ways than not.

Luck threw 8 more TDs and 3 fewer INTs. Averaged over 1.5 more ypa as well. Unless I'm getting my stats from a bad source.thebeast wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:55 amSure, 335 more yards or less than 20 yards per game (4240 vs 3905), but also 7 more ints. Luck also had 80 less pass attempts than Bortles with only 22 less completions.Lotto4Life wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 12:23 pmLuck threw 8 more TDs and 3 fewer INTs. Averaged over 1.5 more ypa as well. Except Luck is probably 20X smarter. Valedictorian at a major 5A school in Houston. Stanford Graduate; Pretty much a model citizen with two more Pro Bowls and no off field issues like Sexual Assault allegations, shoplifting issues, or suspensions for groping Uber drivers.

Re: Luck - Still top 5?
Is Luck a generational talent? Perhaps not, we’ll see. But he is certainly All Pro and has accomplished more than arguably any QB in the league (not including longevity). Perhaps only Rodgers is better. And by accomplish, I mean taken crappy teams and win.thebeast wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:31 am Luck is not a generational talent, people were spoon fed that so long that now they believe it. Generational talent isn’t about putting up pretty fantasy stats. Luck has taken crappy teams into the playoffs and then led them to 3 playoff wins. With the addition of Luck, the Colts will be in the playoff hunt again this year.
Sure I like what have seen out of Watson, Wentz, Garrapollo. But too small sample size.

Brady and Brees probably have a bone to pick with you. And so does Russel Wilson come to think of it. Luck isn’t generational by any means, he’s just a better than average QB in the league when healthy. One of a bunch.remedy29 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 4:45 pmIs Luck a generational talent?
